My daughter went to Catholic school from kindergarten till 7th, the other k-2 and my son k. We loved it and so did they, it was a lot more structured than the public school and allowed for more one on one time with the teachers as they needed it and there was a lot more parental involvement. Last summer we moved to a town that has a population of 1975 people so they do not have the opportunity to go they have to attend the public school. We just had parent teacher conference last night and all three of my kids are more advanced in math and reading than the other kids and my oldest was praised more than once on her effective study habits.

I sent all 3 of my children to Christian School & currently send 3 grandchildren thru the same system. 1- 4th grade 1- 2nd grade 1- Pre-kindergarten. The classes are usually smaller than in public schools, Which gives the teacher more one on one time. Quality of education is usually higher in smaller classes. The down side is if a teacher is not of a good quality. The next year teacher has to make up for the previous year. The children that usually go to Christian schools tend to have better manners along with respect for self & others. The don't go to school looking like a circus freak because they have a dress code. You don't see the police outside Christian schools like you do at public schools.

I would send my children to a good Christian school if I had the choice. But, like the above poster, I was sent to a Christian school, and quickly found out that most kids there went because they had been kicked out of public school!! Two of my teachers were down right abusive, and assumed everyone there was a public school reject.(Funny thing is, both these teachers were later denied jobs at public schools) The teachings were better, and I did alot better there, learned and retained more, but I also learned about drinking and drugs there! Bottom line, don't go by the name on the building, check it out very carefully!!

I think that you should give them a choice once they reach their teen years. My Dad forced me to choose a christian school and college and the results weren't what they chalked up to be. A lot of the kids who go to these schools are in the same boat and are usually more disturbed and have more problems over all. I attended both secular and christian high schools and I can tell you now that I saw more drug problems and depression and rebellious behavior in christian schools than I did in secular ones. It may not be all schools, but the ones I attended were no better/worse than secular ones. And just because they are going to a christian school doesn't mean they are taught by christian teachers. I fell somewhere in the punk crowd, but still had a passion for God's word and I was judged before people even got to know me a lot of the times by other kids who didn't dress like and by many teachers. I was once asked to get out of the classroom by a teacher who said I looked like a devil worshipper! I was taken by surprise because they looked at my outer apperance and made their decision before even talking to me on my beliefs. I had an English teacher that told me the Bible wasn't a credible source for a paper I did on abortion and that the Bible was a bunch of horse crap. Make this decision with careful thought and talk it over with your kids. But I beg you not to force them if they don't want to. Being taught at a place with Christian morals and Biblical standard is great, but I know that forcing them into it could cause more harm than good. Pray on it and I tell you all of this not to necessarily discourage you, but to think on it and really check out any schools you may send your kids to.

i just enrolled my 4.5 year old in a christian school, he loves it there...

our situation was a horrible one..we live in a small town where the actual schools do not provide pre-k..so the daycares offer it...my son was in this particular day care for 5 days and i pulled him out...he was coming home with bite marks on him and the teachers never told me about them, my little boy even said that he told the teachers and they did nothing...also, the admitted to not reading his file before he got there..he is allergic to oranges and they served them to him one day....i taught my son from a very young age that he cannot eat those or he will get very ill, so he knew better...

i pulled him from that for negligence and scaring the crap out of him...when he started the new school, he begged me not to take him because he was afraid that they were going to hurt him

i feel that he is much safer where he is at now even though its father away...i wouldnt have it any other way
