Pregnancy & Parenting - 19 December 2007

My 8 year old daughter always has a runny nose. She is on an allergy medicine for when she gets bad, but every day she has an extremely runny nose. Everytime she sneezes, her nose runs to the point where she has to catch it with her hand and run into the bathroom. Her doctor says there's really nothing they can do for her. Does anyone know of any tricks that she can do/use everyday to stop her nose from running so much? She is getting older now so I know it is getting embarassing for her.

Also, this happens literally every day.....regardless of what season it is.

Let me start off saying I love my inlaws very much. They've always treated me like family, even when hubby & I were just dating. We're preggers with our 2nd baby & we have an ultrasound to find out the sex. Hubby works in the family business & I want him to be there with me, so I brought up the utrasound appt to see if he could get off. MIL quips up & invites herself to go with us. I was too shocked to say anything. Hubby is happy as a clam and says "Sure!". I wanted this moment to be just me, him & our daughter. We are bringing a tape to record & share with the rest of the family. So why can't MIL find out with everyone else & let us have our moment? I feel like she has over-stepped several boundaries over the course of our relationship...she disinvited MY family from my dd's 1st birthday. She made a Dr appt for my hubby when I clearly told her I had things handled & I would make the appt after talking with him. She came to the appt with us. I felt like she was undermining me.

ok My wife has been charting for 3 months her bbt usually drops around day 11 DPO...To make a long story short..we are at 19 days now with BBT at 98 or higher "actually 98.5 this morning"..we wnt to the dr because all the pee tests say neg...Took a blood test and it was NEG!!!!!! ARRRGHHH What the hel is going on here! We think its a little too soon because my wife has had weird hormones since she was a kid and cant take B/C . But the last 3 months charting has been textbook charts..11 days high DPO then around day 12 drops to 97 and she starts her peroid...this month 19 days high temp..no cramps, no bleeding no nothing...We think she is and was wondering has anyone else gotten a neg pos blood result...Our Dr said it may be too early just wait it out...But it's the Holidays and we wanna suprise our family at X-Mas...any suggestions...And thanks

We found out yesterday that were having a girl!!!! We have already decided on the name Rylin. Our last name starts with a D. At first we were going to use the middle name Renee. It is my moms first name and his moms middle name but now my husband likes the name Olivia for the middle name but her initials will be ROD and we think she might get made fun of in her high school years (we think people might say sexual stuff about it). We have not told our families the name so our moms wont be hurt that were changing it. Do you like Rylin Renee or Rylin Olivia better? Do you think she will get made fun of later for having the initials ROD?

i was at a amusement park, waiting in line for a bumper car ride and i was dressed decently (blouse and pants).

some perverted 8 year old kid tried to touch me when i was in line at a amusement park. my cousin saw his elder brother (about 13 years old or so) dared him to touch my back!!!

he nearly touched me until my cousin gave him a scary dirty look to tell him to back off!

i turned around and did the same thing. parents these days dont moniter their kids!!! (some parents)

i nearly slapped him ( the brother) and spanked the kid.

a lot of my friends are telling me that when they were pregnant they used to cry all the time. i am way more aggressive right now and get angry all the time. crying is the last thing i think of doing. i am 22 weeks. thank you for your answers!

I had a divorce from a bad relationship. My three year old girl has not got into saying that she wants to be a baby. It goes from wanting to drink from a bottle, trying to put on old baby clothes and even talking baby talk. I asked her why and eventually it came out that 'mummy and daddy like babies not big girls' - it seems to be that somehow she thinks the divorce and upheaval has something to do with her and the fact she is not a baby anymore!!!! I do not know where she got that and we both try to reassure her that we like 'big girls' etc but she still persists in pretending to be a baby. She only does this some times, not all the time and her language skills are pretty advanced for her age.

My daughter is about to be 13 and last night she confessed to me that she's embarassed that I had her when I was 16 yrs. old & she feels that she prevented me from "being a regular teen". NEVER! I tried to explain to her that getting pregnant with her was the best thing that has ever happened to me. I have NEVER had the thought "I wish I wasn't a mom". I was blessed with 2 parents who were and still are there for me and my daughter. My parents didn't kick me out of the house, and would watch my child when I went out, worked or whatever! In doing that my mother let me be a "regular teen/young adult" and still be a mom. Someone please help me, I don't want my daughter to be embarassed of me and I definitely don't want her to feel ANYTHING is her fault or that she has hindered me in any way. I'm doing very well financially for her, everything I do is to make her happy. She's my world. Please help.

I am 33 weeks pregnant and my male cat tries to root on my bosom!!! LOL really I am serious!!! I am currently looking for a new apartment and have been told by several people that garden apartments are not safe for babies. Does anyone know why? I'm thinking it has something to do with lots of dust being collected or the possibility of mold or because it could be too cold and drafty? I don't like garden apartments anyhow, so I won't ever be moving into one, I am just curious as to why they shouldn't live there, nobody has really given me an answer except that they just shouldn't!

my daughter is 4 1/2 and has only been having these tantrums for a couple months now. She has a complete melt down if she does not get what she wants. I have never given in to her and when we are at home and she has one, she goes to her room herself to calm down. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with this? She is quite stubborn and it is almost like she just keeps doing it thinking that eventually we will give in to her. If anyone has any idea's, that would be great

The teen with problems: She has always been bright, but unmotivated. Getting by would be her moto. Average to below average grades, very overweight, poor hygene. Easy to talke to, talks a good talk, not doing anything terribly bad, or terribly good. Until

Teen and family agree for her last year in school she would live away from home, with parents close by. This was mutually agreeable.

Teen now desides to not go to school, and even skip on going to work, which she had previously liked. What does she do instead...sleep. She has been encouraged, in many different ways to do the right thing, but she doesn't do it.

So now, this teen has used up most of her options, parents, school, work and will soon be faced with the results of these decisions. No money, no work, family distanced, no education.

Is there anything, any one who can turn a person like this around. A boot camp, a program, the military, a group...

Hi Everyone,
I am trying to master the OPK tests. I feel pretty sure I am close to O time, maybe a day or two either way. This morning I used two tests, both by Answer, and both with FMU. One was the little strip (cheaper kind) and it showed a definite positive. The other was the type that looks like a pregnancy test, the larger plastic type you can hold in stream if you choose and it was negative...
what gives?!?
Any thoughts?

i'm supposed to ovulate on the 20th ,me and my hubby baby danced sunday, monday & today which is supposed to be my most fertile day...what are the chances?and does it make a difference if all the times you baby danced was like between 1 and 3am in the morning?thanks for anyones input!
