I am currently looking for a new apartment and have been told by several people that garden apartments are not safe for babies. Does anyone know why? I'm thinking it has something to do with lots of dust being collected or the possibility of mold or because it could be too cold and drafty? I don't like garden apartments anyhow, so I won't ever be moving into one, I am just curious as to why they shouldn't live there, nobody has really given me an answer except that they just shouldn't!

A garden apartment is an apartment that is either right on street level or in the basement.

that souds silly... probably some ridiculous old wives tale about the building falling down or something...lol

wouldn't a house be just as drafty, dangerous for a child to walk out, or to be broken into?

Because they're more likely to be ambushed by Anne Geddes looking for a cutesy photo op. Especially if you dress your baby in a bee constume or an endagered species costume.

The only reason I can think of is that there are desperate women out there who want a baby at any cost, and may want to steal yours! (Easier access to a garden apartment than one higher up!)

I'm not sure, but it could be that a baby or toddler could accidentally get outdoors or into the street more easily because the outside door is right at street level.

That sounds kind of silly, never heard that before. I think that wherever you live will be fine, so long as you make sure 100% that it's a good environment for your baby.

Because they are on the ground floor and easier for a baby/toddler to get out of an unlocked door.

Be sensible. How do you think people who live in single-level HOUSES cope???
