Hi Everyone,
I am trying to master the OPK tests. I feel pretty sure I am close to O time, maybe a day or two either way. This morning I used two tests, both by Answer, and both with FMU. One was the little strip (cheaper kind) and it showed a definite positive. The other was the type that looks like a pregnancy test, the larger plastic type you can hold in stream if you choose and it was negative...
what gives?!?
Any thoughts?

forgot to mention, my Dr. told me to use first morning urine, FMU, instead of afternoon like the box says...

The kind you hold in your stream are not as sensitive as the ones you dip for 15-20 seconds.

You shouldnt be testing in the morning anyway, the LH hormone is synthesized by your body as the day progresses, so your surge shows best late in the afternoon or early evening time.

If one test picked it up I would go with that. You think you're going to Ovulate in a day or two, and the test shows you'd be ovulating tomorrow. So thats spot on.

I don't know if I can help you with the two different kinds, but I will say this...those things never work for me! I get mixed results! In fact, the month we did concieve, the stupid tests never gave me a clear positive (and obviously I did ovulate). So what I'm trying to say is you can't put too much faith in those things. I've heard lots of similar stories too. Some women just don't have a long or strong LH surge that shows up on a test but they still get it. My advice is to still use them but ultimately, since you know your body best, you be the one to tell if when/if you ovulate (by charting and CM etc.)

I do not think it is likely you would have a false positive. I would think you are ovulating! If you are unsure, I would suggest buying a digital opk to be sure. That is what I use and there is never any guessing. A smiley face shows up if you are ovulating and an empty circle if you are not.

Good luck and lots of baby dust to you!
