He has started to pay attention to the toilet and when he 'wees' he points at his nappy and then points upstaires and wants to go to the toilet, but he has already done it.

It really helped my son to potty train standing up so he could see what was happening and connect the sensations. Plus, I wanted to use a no pressure way that avoided me having to put my kids somewhere they did not want to be. My daughter and son just love The Potty Stool http://www.thepottystool.com I started by just setting it at the toilet. This stool makes every toilet kid-sized. My kids immediately climbed up on this stool and discovered that they could safely and securely use the toilet. This got them very interested in using the toilet and they were potty trained very quickly.

My kids like to use what they know mommy and daddy use. And it really is wonderful having your kids independently use the toilet on their own. The handles and sides make all the difference! My son and daughter felt very secure and the sides makes them feel comfortable and closed in when they use the toilet.

I like that I don't have to double the steps of potty training by training them first in a potty and then training them to stop using a potty. And not dumping and cleaning a potty each time is great. The best thing is that kids use it for years. I hope this helps you

I used one with my eldest and it was a mess!!! We also got one of the cushiony seats that go right on the toilet for when we were at family's house and after using it a few times he started using the toilet without it!

I would say just get the seat to go on the toilet and use that with a step stool (we didn't use the stool but it's easier with it) because they are using the BIG potty then. I don't know how old your child is but he didn't become really really interested in it till he was 2 1/2 years old. And now that he is 3 1/2 he is fully and completely potty trained.

This is the first step - YAY!

We used a baby potty for just a short time until my duaghter wasn't afraid of sitting on the big poty anymore.

We would have her sit on the little potty for a few minutes even after she had already gone in her diaper and then tell her that next time she needed to tell Mommy and we would sit on her special potty and read books.

Eventually she wanted to sit on the big potty so we just put her little seat on the big potty.

What really worked for us as she got a bit more consistent with going on the potty, we left her diaper off for an entire weekend and by the end of it, she told us every time she needed to go and only had 1 accident.

I highly recommend this! Good Luck :)

I would start with a small potty or at least one of the adapters you can place on the toilet lid, little bums have a hard time sitting on a reg. lid. When you are training him to pee in the potty try throwing some cheerios in there and give him a prize for hitting them, it makes it fun and it only took 4 days to train my son like this!

We used a step stool and one of those soft seats that go on a regular toilet. I think it helped my daughter feel like she was being like Mommy by using the same toilet that I was using. Also, it was less mess. And when we went out, she was able to use regular public restrooms, she did not need to have her special potty.

I don't know...It's whatever works for you. We taught our son to stand to pee (he's pretty tall for 3 yrs old) and we bought one of those little seats that goes on the big toilet to make the seat smaller, then he uses a foot stool to get up on the toilet. Just remember that even if you buy a little potty you're still going to have to help him get the pants/underwear up and down.

Good luck. Don't pressure him too much.

I have two sons and it was easier to use one of those little step things that you put by the toilet so they can reach rather than using the potty

A few of my friends have made a game out of toilet training their sons by tossing fruit loops or cheerios in the toilet and having them aim for them...lol
