Why is this in pregnancy and i think the smoking age should be pushed up to age 21. Young people aren't mature enough to understand just HOW BAD SMOKING REALLY IS FOR YOU. i started at 18 and quit at 23 and i wish i hadn't lost all those lung cells. I wish i never started. Try holding for you breath as long as you can then when you can't stand it anymore imagine not being able to get that refreshing breath. Keep smoking and someday you will know what that feels like. Smoking takes away your ability to breathe. Simple as that. I pray you don't get lung cancer...in which case you are given 5 years to live at the most. Oh and that isn't only 50-60 year olds. I know a lot of people in their 20'S WHO HAVE LUNG CANCER CUZ THEY STARTED SO YOUNG!!!

I agree wrong section but I think its stupid here in Canada its 18 to vote, 19 to smoke or drink...Your not even classifef as an adult till 18........

but its 16 to sign your life away to the army and go get blown up!

So at 16 your old enough to die but not choose your Prime Minister or hell even your own Mayor.

How ever I wouldn't want the age lowered on the drinking and such....We don't need anymore underage and undereducated drunks walking around over here. I wouldn't mind seeing the age of inlisiting going up though! Some things are just not though out

I think you shouldn't be able to smoke at all... if you pregnant (which i am assuming you are if you are posting this in this section). I don't think that there is anything wrong with the age of 18. Maybe even older?!

most 16 year olds are not mature enough to handle situations that will affect the rest of their life (yes smoking is addictive and will kill you or try to my aunt breaths out of an oxygen tank). even 18 is not old enough even though i am 18 myself, but i have personal experience with this situation that enables me to make a secure and sound decision on why i shouldn't smoke. most 16 year olds do not have to worry about bills or rent or health they are care-free. many 18 year olds are too, but since that is the legal age to do anything maybe thats why. and by the way...you should be asking this on health not pregnancy. you shouldn't smoke while pregnant either...very unhealthy..im a second hand smoker and i can tell you now..i hated it thanks a lot dad and aunt!!! don't smoke, you'll just die.

So you're saying we should allow someone who cannot even spell to make their own choices about things such as smoking? Until you learn how to spell and can give a REAL reason as to why it's so stupid,(other then the fact that you can't smoke) then maybe you can start complaining.

i think it's stupid to smoke at any age whether it be 18 or 88...smoking will shave at least 10-20 years off your life....

smoking is disgusting, makes your clothes smell, teeth and nails go yellow and can give you lung disease.

So for something with no positive benefit except a short lived popular status at school it's a bit pointless really.

Maybe when you grow up you'll realise that!

Also the other's are right - this is in the wrong section.

I actually think it should be illegal for anybody to smoke. It's dangerous to the smoker AND the people who end up being exposed to their second-hand smoke. Do you know what is in that cigarette and its smoke? It's absolutely disgusting.

Why are you asking this under pregnancy? It's even more dangerous for us (pregnant women) to be exposed to smoke because there is a baby developing inside us.

Not at all. I am not a smoker, so they can raise the age to 25, 30, 40 for all I care.

No, it's not RIDICULOUS. You're a kid, for crying out loud. The only thing smoking at 16 would do is to start ruining your lungs earlier.
