My 8 year old daughter always has a runny nose. She is on an allergy medicine for when she gets bad, but every day she has an extremely runny nose. Everytime she sneezes, her nose runs to the point where she has to catch it with her hand and run into the bathroom. Her doctor says there's really nothing they can do for her. Does anyone know of any tricks that she can do/use everyday to stop her nose from running so much? She is getting older now so I know it is getting embarassing for her.

Also, this happens literally every day.....regardless of what season it is.
Thanks!

My son has the same problem! He has allergies and asthma. I went to my local pharmacy and they recommended a nasal spray that help out a lot. Even thou the doctor said there is nothing still see your pharmacist they can help you find something that can at least help.

I am with the others in suggesting an allergy specialist or Ear, Nose and Throat doctor. There are many medications out there for allergies, and it sounds like the one she is on is not working for her.

You may want to go to your local health food store and ask the specialists there about remedies. They can probably give you a natural treatment that will help her.

In the meantime, when she showers, make her run the water warm first over her sinuses, then make the water a little colder and run it over her sinus area on her face. Do this several times, warm, then cold, then warm again, and it should unpack any mucous in her sinuses. This may help her sinuses empty out and dry up. I hope this helps, good luck!

My son had that problem and we found out he had a really bad ear infection. But I would go to another doctor and get a second opinion if i were you!

well my daughter (6 yrs) gets that prob too and all i do for her is give her some cold medicine that is for runny noses plus congestion- because it drains to her chest. It works- Robitussin or Triaminic....not sure which one it really is.

Change the allergy medication.
She may be allergic to something in the house?
Pets?
Fabric softener?
My son gets that, and we had to switch medications.

wow! My first response is to FIND A NEW DOCTOR!!!! That is not normal and quite frankly, I know it has to be pretty disgusting. Maybe you should try to figure her allergen and try to keep her away from it. But please, find a new doctor maybe even an allergist.
