I am 34 weeks pregnant and highly considering having an epidural if needed during labor.

I have an extremely high tolerance to medications. In December of 2006, I had back surgery to remove a herniated disk and none of the narcotic pain meds or tranquilizers worked. I was given so much morphine and demerol, it's not even funny. What really doesn't make sense is that I was 95lbs at the time and 5'4"... you'd think anything would knock me out... but not the case.

Has anyone had an epidural and it not work? If so, what happened afterwards? What other methods did you try?

Thanks for your answers in advance!

My mom is watching him while I am at work and she just called and said that she went around the corner of the bar in the kitchen and came right back and my 8 1/2 month old son was standing holding onto this basket and waving his little arm and he said "bye bye! bye bye!". I wave bye to him every morning and say it and he has been waving bye to me for about 2 months now. So I know he said it and knows what it means. He repeats ba ba sometimes and he knows what it is but since it is one of those things babies repeat over and over I didn't know if that would have been considered his first or if bye bye was his first. I just want to know what to write in his baby book =)

AND just out of curiosity, what were your babies first words?

I ordered a phone from ebay and paid $18.00 for shipping , this company I bought it through pride themselve's on there fast shipping, I have emailed them to see if there was a problem with my address and I get no response, It hasnt been to long of a wait where Im getting worried just yet but this place is located in the US about 7 hours away from me, So my question is What Do you think is a reasonable waiting period for an item to be shipped and when is it appropriate to leave negative feedback, by the way I payed through pay pal with my credit card so there not waiting for a check to clear or anything like that!

and I am aware of this being in the wrong catagoery but I know a lot of parents use Ebay and I thought I get more responses here, thanks

I still rock my 18 month old son to sleep (naptime & bedtime). I would really like for him to fall asleep on his own. How can I transition him to fall asleep on his own??

Just curious~ How old was your child when you were able to simply say goodnight & lie him/her in the crib/bed??

She has maybe 15-20 words but she is not putting two words together yet. She understands everything I say and follows directions perfectly. She tries to copy what I say..sometimes she's close but sometimes she's totally off. She grunts and has some basic signs that she uses. Any insight would be appreciated.

My kindergartner complains and says she doesn't want to do homework. What's the deal? Is it not the right time for kindergarten? Is it normal for them to whine about homework? Do I just be the strong one here and make her do it because it's good for her?????

It was extreamly heavy. ive never had a period like that before and hope to never again. Well i havent had a period since. Could i be pregnant even though i had my tubes tied? or are periods like this after having a baby or tubes tied? I had a c-section by the way!

My friend has a baby boy that is almost 15 months old. Her mom does almost whatever she wants to do with the baby. She has given him gum when he wasn't even a year old. She laughs when he spreads his food all over his highchair tray and my friend is trying to teach him not to do that. Last night they went out to eat and almost as soon as he was done eating, his grandmother picked him up to turn him upside down and my friend told her mom not to do that because he would throw up. Sure enough, he did about 5 minutes later and the grandmother just said "well at least it didn't get on me". My friend says her mom won't listen to her about anything she tells her about the baby, because she thinks she knows everything. What would you do to make your mom abide by your wishes when it came to your child? I don't know what to tell her or what can be done.

she was evicted and then came and stayed with my family for 2 weeks. her kids are 19 and 7. the 19 yr old doesn't work or go to school. while they stayed with me they don't pick up after them selves, they don't shower but once a week and then put on the same dirty clothes. my house stunk by the time they left. we paid deposit on a apartment. the apt cost 250 a week and that included all utilites. she gets 900 a month in s.s. from the 7 yr olds dad (died 3 yrs ago). she is now being evicted from that apt. I refuse to take her in again. me and my husband have 2 kids and we both work very hard for what we have. i don't want my house torn up by them. i refuse to get up every morning and go to work so that they can sit and do nothing all day. I have decided to let her go homeless, she has a car to sleep in. i know that sounds really cold. as soon as she is homeless i will call child protection services and have the 7 yr old removed and i will take him in. any suggestions on what to do?

I got my period on Sept 1-6, had sex during the last day of period and everyday for a week or so afterwards. What are my chances of being preggers? Is it possible to become pregnant on these days if you have a normal 28 day cycle? The reason i am asking is because I have insanely sore breast and this never happens until the day before my period. please give me some advice... Thanks in advance

Always buy the biggest box that they have for $2.83 and the color of the box was yellow. I am looking to buy now for my second baby. Do you know what is the brand? thank you in advance.

I caught my daughter in another lie for the second time. The first time was bad and theis time was just as bad (regarding homework not done). She thinks she can get away with it, but I always catch her in the lie? I already told her that if she lies again I would be dropping her off at the girls detention home. She is nine. Seems liek she is not phased by that threat.

I have a daycare in my home and I have a 10month old in my care. Well the mom doesn't want her drinking water only juice because she feels water is empty calories. She sometimes comes with a 10 oz sippy of juice and told me for meals to give her juice not water. I know a baby of her age should only get max 4 oz of juice per day (diluted). I have tried to hint saying that I give the other children water with both snacks I serve and milk (which she obviously can't have yet) for breakfast and lunch but she says no the juice is fine. She even told me she was excited because her daughter now can drink out of a straw so she gave her her first juice box. I was appalled. Should I say something or just stay out of it?

How much do you save? Also, do they have good deals on meat?? I'm looking to save especially in the meat!

I am lebanese and my husband is english (very english). I would love my child to have a little bit of me as our surname is Jackson and I would love it to have an arabic/musilim name but my husband wants something typically English. I am not fond of Adam and he's not fond of Sami - any ideas? This is causing rows!

This guy asked me if I was interested in him painting our house number on the curb. I said no thanks. He then asked if my parents were home to ask. I said, no we are not interested. (I'm 25 yrs old, and have a child myself!) lol I really just wanted to get rid of him, but should I have stated I was the parent? Now I kind of freak myself out as what I should have said, or wonder if he'd try to break in because he thinks I'm the child, and home alone (he did see our 2 yr old son).

I have a 2 (almost 3) year old boy in my daycare that refused to eat anything besides fruit. I supply breakfast and lunch and 2 snacks every day for the children. I make up a menu and give to the parents the week before. Well this particular boy will usually push his plate away and tell me he doesn't like whatever it is and get upset. I do serve fruit with breakfast and lunch which he will eat. So if he doesn't eat the rest of his meal he will go hungry. The mom tells me she usually serves him whatever he wants sepratley from what they eat for dinner. I refuse to do that because than the other kids will want what he has and besides I am introducing foods that he will not eat at home. Do you think I am doing the right thing by serving him what everyone else is having and not catering to what he wants. By the way he is fine weight and height wise.

My daughter is 20 months old and I just put her in fulltime daycare for the first time. I work about 50 hrs a week and so she spends a great deal of time there. I have no choice but to work because it is an internship program that I have to complete in order to finish my doctoral degree (which I've been working on for over 6 years). We also had to move out of state for this internship, so she is living in a new house, with a new room, etc... The adjustment has been really difficult...she has been tantrumming alot lately and I can tell she is anxious and stressed because her life has changed so much. I feel SO much guilt about leaving her in daycare fulltime and i try really hard to spend as much quality time with her as possible at night and on the weekends, but even that is difficult sometimes when I am so worn out. My husband works out of town and so he is gone much of the time, so he can't help. My question is, how do you manage the guilt? What can I do to help my daughter? Thanks!
