This child is part of you as well so I think it is very unfair of your husband to expect your child to just have english names.
I suggest you choose a typical english first name (the name the child will be called) and then choose an arabic/muslim second name (middle name) .

I think Adam or Sami is perfect....perhaps if you both sat down Googled 'muslim baby names'........there are lots of sites, and then you could play around with the spellings and letters till you are both happy.. Sam perhaps??.I think your husband shouldn't get all his own way....the little one will after all have his surname, and it's got to be a name that suits the surname..........good luck!

Maybe Tariiq or Javen? These names are from eastern origin i think, maybe play around with the spelling of Tariiq - Tarik. But they both sound old english.
I really like Sami. Maybe suggest to him Samuel. Then you can call him Sami anyway...!

What about Majid (Maj), Sajid (Saj), Amir, Khan, Imran, Sohail, Aryan, Arash. Names of all my muslim friends here in Durban. Also I have these two twin boys who are my neighbours called Zakir and Zaheer. Of course Im from South Africa so I dont know what kinds of names you and your husband are thinking about. If he like Adam why dont you keep it like Adnan or Annan. If you want something like muslim but has english variations you could name your kid Shaan and your husband can call him Shaun/Shawn if he wants. Hope these help. I also really like the name Junaid, and Shoaib one of my friends brothers' names. What about Dani or (Danny in english). or Yusuf called Joseph, or Younis.

My step-mother is (Muslim &) Egyptian while my father is American - they have 2 sons - here is what they came up with:
Ramsey Clinton (Clinton is my dad's name)
Ryan Sharif (Sharif is after someone on her side)
PS - I think it's neat that the Egyptian and American sounding names alternate 1st and middle names. Ramsey sounds more Egyptian and Ryan sounds more English. Then alternating middle (family) names. It's nice to honor both sides.
Hope I could help!
