swift and consistent punishment....in my house, it is an instant trip to the naughty chair for a timeout, then he has to apologize and hug his sister or cousin (whoever he hit). Swift and consistent...over and over and over, no matter how inconvenient. It will work, just give it time.

I hope this was more helpful than what you've gotten so far for answers...sheesh.

Jeez Meggie this is your third problem with these kids. Okay, so everyone else is telling you to smack the kid, but we know a daycare can't do that. Definately let the parent know what is going on. Obviously, the kid is getting away with it at home. Tell the parent if the child does not stop, she will have to find another daycare. Watch how fast the parents put a stop to the hitting.

This worked on my kids.... take their favorite toy and put it on top of the refrigerator (place it near the edge so they can see it). Say something like "your toy will stay up here until you can behave like the good boy/girl I know you are". I make them apologize to the person they hurt and to the adults in the house for their behavior. It seems like a silly punishment, but to a toddler, the fridge is extremely tall and being able to see the toy is a reminder that the behavior they displayed was unacceptable.

try a more "secluded" time out. my daughter laughs at the thought of time outs unless she's away from everyone and everything (a place that's boring and occupant free.) we use my daughters bedroom (consisting of only her bed and her sisters crib) for whatever reason she take me more seriously when her timouts are there rather than a chair in the kitchen or a nose in the corner. good luck!

A swift smack on the butt from you should do it! Ok...kidding! Take away his favorite toy or make the time outs longer. Be firm and not a softie!!!!

haha be more strict. if you aren't - they will take advantage of you. Remember, you have to train them when it comes to certain things. And its better to do it when they are younger, or those habits can be very bad when they are older.

If it takes a little smack - lay it on that sucker !! and you have to be strict about some thigns !!
