I'm joinin the Army and going for Infantry. My parents keep trying to convince me not too and to get a better job like mechanic or something. Today I talked to a Iraq war vet who was in infantry and is all messed up in the head from the war. He told me DON'T join the Army at all. He also told me that every job has to fight. He said he has friends that were mechanics and satellite experts that fought more than him.... How come every job you get you have to fight and what do ya'll think about the whole situation?

unless it's with extraterrestrials

because all the players in the world today realize that interconnection and interdependence has strung such a broad swath that there simply won't be a world war 3.

we'll still have regional conflicts like israel/palestine or north korea/iran.

but there won't be a world war III. get this in your heads folks!

When you stop and think about it the USA with it's aircraft carriers,Soliders,Marines,Attack Helicopters,Nuclear Weapons,Spy Satelites cannot defeat the small band of Iraqi Freedom Fighters after 4 years of war (2003-2007) it is mindboggling. What is the Mighty US Military waiting for?The Right time to act?The US was involved in War War II for only 4 years (1941-1945).

The only thing the Iraqi Freedom Fighters have to do to Win the War is to keep fighting long enough until they Break the Will of the American People and they demand that their Army be brought home,That way the Iraqi Freedom Fighters will win, that's what the Heroic Viet Cong/North Vietnames Soliders did, they outlasted the US Military Then. 58000 US Soliders Died for nothing,I wonder how many US Soliders will have to Die until the American People finally wake up and see their War is Unwinable?

So many times I have read questions that use terms like "we" "our" or "us" in relation to troops deployed to places like Iraq or Afghan, when in fact they are talking about the troops of their own nation.

Whilst I appreciate that people are worried for their own countries servicemen, it must be remembered that a coalition consists of more than one countries forces.

In fact Afghanistan has troops from 37 diffrent nations assisting under the UN ISAF mandate and Iraq has 22 different nations.

When I deployed my unit helped set up wells hospitals and schools and saw nothing on the news about it, but the day we lost 2 guys in an attack it was all over the news. Any reporters out there that can break this down Barney style for me. It really hurts knowing that the entire world thinks that were a bunch of screw ups when they dont know the whole story.

I'm American. However, I am a citizen (I think) as I was born there and lived there until I was five years old, and I am still fluent in Russian. Two of my aunts live there, and they are helping me set up. I'm 18.

Is it true that they hate Americans (I'm only 1/4 Russian, so I'm not "totally Russian")?

During Vietnam if there wasn't a draft no one would have enlisted into the Army and Marines so they (USA Government) made one go into the military. Now, fast forward to 2007. There is a war going on and young men/women are enlisting to go to war and not forced to go into the military. That is amazing! In the year 1972 all of us Military men said this could never happen ( Enlist without being forced to go in) but it seems to be working for now. Us old veterans from Vietnam find this amazing to the max.

my husband is in AIT and is getting trained to repair air conditioners. he will be stationed in Germany when he graduates. he might be deployed to Iraq from there. his DS told him that he will be repairing AC"s in iraq if he goes and is going to be board out of his mind knowing that that is all he is going to be doing. this sounds like a bunch of BS to me. someone please tell me if you know anyone in iraq that is doing anything else besides fighting.
