If you are honorably discharged, you will get to keep all your uniforms.

You will have to turn in any special gear issued to you.

IE: Extreme cold weather gear, MOLLE gear, helmets, etc.

As long as you recieve an honorable discharge, you get to keep all uniforms you were issued. You are allowed to wear the uniform for ceremonial purposes, retirement, weddings, funerals, veterans parades etc as long as it is in good taste and is not a public or political demonstration. In short, you can't disgrace the uniform, the service or the country it stands for!
You can have your honorable discharge stripped away if you violate the rules.

I kept all uniforms BDU / DCU / Class A Blues / Boots / Wet Weather Gear (Gortex Jacket & Pants) / Cold Weather Gear (Long Johns/Hats/Gloves/Socks) / PT Gear

Had to turn back in all the field gear (Helmet/Body Armor/Rucksack/Canteen/Ect) that was issued by my organization - was able to find replacement field gear items at a military surplus store - that i had purchased

The Military's Philophy is "If it touches the persons skin / they dont want it back"

Since getting out of the service i have utilized the cold weather (winter boots/long johns/gloves) and wet weather gear (Gortex Jacket) / beats having to have to buy the civilian equivilant

I kept everything issued to me that was clothing including the dress uniforms.

Jump boots have a separate toe that is harder. It is easier to shine. Blousing them means to take an elastic band like a big rubber band and tucking the trousers into the band around the top of the boot so they flare out a bit.

any military uniform items that were not issued from the command( as opposed to by the Army or that you bought yourself) are yours to keep and do with what you will.

However, it is against UCMJ to pass yourself as a currently serving Servicemember if you are not one. Typically, only retired personnel wear uniforms for formal occasions such as weddings. it is disingenuous to wear a uniform when you are not active Duty or retired.

The poster why are you so upset should disqualify himself from trying to answer your question since he is not a vet. He pretends he is a vet on YA but the closest he has ever come to combat is the occasional shoplifter he has to wrestle with in his job as a rent a cop at Walmarts...

Just ignore him...just about everyone on YA does.

You get to keep everything that is not "Unit Property" (Helmet, body armor, gas mask, etc...) and is not on the DD-Form 2062 you sign when you first arrive into your unit of assignment.

After your time is completed and you are given your Honorable Discharge, you turn in all your field equipment and whatever you still have that is not on you inventory paperwork is yours to keep.

I have about two footlockers full of field equipment that I have gathered over the years and most of it is mine to keep, as long as I have turned in everything that my unti has issued to me and have signed an inventory sheet.
