Interesting concept here---
"modern wars" ---
most of the casualties within the American forces in Iraq
are from the use of homemade-- Improvised Explosive Devices -- the modern equvilent of the musket !!
The grit of a military force is hinged on the stamina and prowse of its in-the-field forces as well as the technical know-how of its personnel---- young people are the best at the first item here, right off the bat -- and provide excellent trainability for the latter !!!
It is a dead sorry situation though--that the older dudes and dudettes that are running these wars can't seem to learn anything at all from experience !! They continue to do the exact same things in the exact same ways that are getting the same exact results and no progress --- into infinity and sit around wondering WHY they don't see successful results !!!

Some of THESE people need to be replaced by some of the "youngs" -- who would at least bring some innovation and new thinking to the table on these matters -- probably with some amazing and much better results !!!!

Holding the ground with the infantry is 90% of winning any war back then, now and in the future, young men are more able to perform in battle fields because they are still fit and full of enthusiasm to fight for their country, on the other hand the counterintelligence is needed to be collected from the ground and not away from it, satellites are over estimated because they operate and follow the gravity and orbits they cant just stand in the space to keep monitoring one spot and smartbombs are just like any other weapon can destroy but will not bring victory or holds the ground, please support our troops, God bless America.

BULL!!!

It makes no difference how much electronic intel you have, nor how many satellites, aircraft, bombs, rockets or artillery anyone has. You can't win a war until a man stands on the ground with a rifle in his hand.

With all the pushbutton, remote control crap we have, it still comes down to an Infantryman walking out, overwhelming the enemy and killing him.

All the counter-intelligence and gadgets don't guarantee that the enemy has been destroyed. So it is up to the grunts, the boots on the ground that have to insure that what enemy is left are destroyed. Nothing beats the man on the ground for success. We blow up what we think is a rebel HQ from afar. How are we sure that the job has been done and what is inside the building that could be useful to us. It has to be the man/woman on the ground.

well to fight a war using smart weapons needs some worthy targets. this means ,if the enemy is fighting the middleages war, you have to fit him and fight that way too. if he doesnt have any buildings and bridges and massed troops, your weapons and sattelittes are worthless. if he doesnt have radios, then zou jamming is worthless.
