The answer is very simple, really, if you know your late 20th century history.
In the Korean War the USA was fighting North Koreans. However, they were being supplied and trained by China. Even though the USA knew this was happening, they refused to attack China. The outcome was a draw.
In Vietnam the USA was fighting North Vietnamese. However, they were being supplied and trained by China and the USSR. Even though the USA knew this was happening, they refused to attack China and the USSR. The outcome was a loss.
In Afghanistan the USSR was fighting Afghanis. However, they were being supplied and trained by the USA. Even though the USSR knew this was happening, they refused to attack the USA. The outcome was a loss.
Today in Iraq, the USA is fighting insurgents in Iraq. However, they are being supplied and trained by Iran. Even though the USA knows this is happening, they refuse to attack Iran. The outcome is ...
Moral of the history lesson? Make sure you are the one supplying and training the locals while your true enemy puts their soldiers/fighters at risk fighting those locals.

We are not in a war. We won the war in Iraq. We are now an army of occupation. It is my belief that President Bush wants us in Iraq for his own hidden purposes. He does not want Iraq destroyed for the same reasons.
We need to get tough like we did in WWII when we sent out hit squads to kill the Nazi soldiers that wouldn't give up. We showed no mercy, we need to do that in Iraq.
No American fighting man has ever let us down. Our Deserter in Chief is being a big wussy and would rather imprison our Marines than destroy the enemy.
What needs to be done is draft every Iraqi man into the Iraqi Army that is between the ages of 20 and 46. Then they might get their own country under control.

Isn't amazing that another drone is buying all the **** the media is spoon feeding him? Mmmm...not really. You see, I know you have never worn a uniform in your life, save that of a cub scout, you have never bore arms for your nation, so I wonder how in the hell you actually would have a clue as to what is going on in Iraq without ever actually having been there.
Ever wonder why they never mention how US forces are doing in combat, like the number of enemy we kill? We smash 'em. Every time. Yet, when I get home, I see it is not the same war I am fighting, the reporting is biased and as such, it colors perceptions of the war. We cannot be beat. The enemy knows this. Who is beating us is our own media but not fairly reporting how the war is being fought, and how US forces are performing. Until you actually have a clue, and know something about military tactics and operations, kindly shut up.

I find it less amazing than the nation that gave western civilization "common law" and the Magna Carta mounting millions of spy cameras to keep track of its citizens. Think about that for a while, and remember, Big Brother loves you, he really does.
Bin bag 'spy camera' to enforce refuse rules
Last Updated: 12:55am BST 17/06/2007
A council is to hide a camera in a bin bag to catch residents who do not follow new rules about putting out the rubbish.
Householders in a seaside town have been told to put their bins out at the front of their homes and not in an alleyway to the rear.
They must also leave their rubbish out between set times to ensure it does not attract pests or miss the dust cart.
To enforce the new rules, a camera will be placed in a rubbish bag and left in an alleyway to blend in with the surroundings to catch offenders. Those filmed breaking the rules will be given a ticking off.
Repeat offenders could be handed a fixed penalty notice or even be taken to court and fined up to £1,000.
The tiny covert camera, which has cost Weymouth and Portland Council, Dorset, up to £10,000, will also help catch householders who put their rubbish out too early or too late....
...More than 30 councils have already secretly fitted microchips to wheelie bins as the Government comes under increasing pressure to increase recycling rates.

I would argue that we are fighting with our hands tied. If we really wanted to win in Iraq, we would engage in tactics that would make most of the population squeamish to say the least. The reason Germany and Japan were brought to their knees at the end of WWII was not through ideas of freedom, but brute force and slaughtering. For instance, the United States killed 250,000 people one night in Tokyo through firebombing. Now we have the capability to kill every person in Iraq within minutes if we really wanted to.

our US Soliders are doing their job and even if we didn't want to be part of the war we would of gotten the same thing for not being part of the war just like we got when we didn't want to be any part of WW ll. So either no other country will have anything nice to say about us even if we helped them in the past.
I may not be one of those soliders but my Grandfather, Dad, and older brother is one of those brave people and some of you need to stop and put yourself in their shoes and see how you would feel if someone said what you just said.

There is no military solution in Iraq, the military leadership has said so repeatedly. Obviously the "surge" therefore cannot and will not work, it is just wasting more lives and treasure for no gain. The solution is a change of the U.S. neocon junta regime. The neocon civilian lack of leadership has been a total disaster. The root of the problem is Bush and his incompetent and crooked corrupt cronies.

If we had the same moral principles as the freedom fighters, we'd have won in months. Oh, and a Nazi underground group kept fighting for two years after Hitler's suicide.

If our politicians would let lose the dogs of war we would be doing much better. But we are a civilized country so we follow the rules while the enemy does as it pleases and blows the hell out of our sons and daughters.

If the USA did use their full power in Iraq you would be saying they are a bully. Many more people would be killed if that would happen. BTW Freedom Fighters-NOT.
