You can defintely use it to get into the military facilities. Reservists (active or inactive) are always welcome at AAFES facilities. I am not sure about the commissary though. Billeting (the on-base "hotel") doesn't take reservations unless you are on orders but you can call 24 hours in advance and if they have an opening, then you can stay. But honestly, most of the time there is never an opening so make sure you have somewhere else to stay as a back-up.

that ID does give you base access, and you can use it for most MWR programs as well as Commissary and Exchange Privieldges. getting a rooom at the base lodge , however, is probably going to be difficult. you would be only authorized Space A accomodations. most Lodges 9(esp. in areas near touristy destinations) have very little in the way of Space A rooms. Youwoul dbe at the very bottom of the category list, retirees would even be higher priority than you.

You can get on base with it, but you can't really do anything else with it unless you have active orders too.
I had one when I got out of the military and used it to get on based 'cause I hated having a dependent id card. But I had to use my dependent id to do anything else.

Look up their number - call and ask, but I suspect the answer will be yes....at least til you are done with IRR.
My hubby agreed just now - since I asked him....he's AD Army.
