President Pervez Musharraf has opened a new and
especially bitter confrontation with radical Islam by
trying to rewrite Pakistan's controversial rape laws.

These place an almost impossible burden of proof on
women by compelling them to produce four "pious" male
witnesses to prove rape or risk being convicted of
adultery and face 100 lashes or death by stoning.

This law, known as the Hudood Ordinance, has been
regarded as untouchable since its passage 27 years
ago.

It also sets no minimum age for sex with girls, saying
only that they should have reached puberty. A powerful
militant Muslim lobby regards this code as sacred and
based on Koranic texts and sharia law. No previous
Pakistani leader, not even the country's first female
leader, Benazir Bhutto, dared reform it.

But Gen Musharraf's allies in parliament sparked the
fury of the militant opposition by introducing a Women
Protection Bill. This would remove the requirement for
four male witnesses to prove rape and set 16 as the
age of consent for sex with girls.

When this measure came before parliament, Islamic
radicals responded by tearing up copies of the bill
and storming out. "This bill is against the Holy
Koran," said Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of the
militant opposition. "We reject it and will try to
block it in any possible manner." Other MPs chanted
"death to Musharraf" and "Allah is great."

So they why do we have people like this who want to ignore the fact that there are many more teachers that are sexual predators than there are preists. Going to school isnt much of a "choice". If you dont like preists then dont go to church, but what to do about the teachers?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoMpFXrJX0sApKjUtEasyCDsy6IX?qid=20060826090819AAWrp84

I answered this questions with "should pedophile teachers be allowed to vote?" and of course someone reported me for not answering the question.

PS - did anyone see America's Most wanted last night, they talked about teachers being able to move from state to state and continue to molest children because of the lack of comprehensive background checks done on teachers.

New Orleans man charged with Hubris, for stealing boat during storm surge. Mr. Morice is sued for stealing Mr. Lyon's boat during Katrina and accused of Hubris. Curious about this story, because a friend of mind took his neighbor's boat (skiff) during the initial rising waters of New Orleans the first day of its flooding, in order to get he and his wife, four cats and two dogs to higher ground, I was compelled to read it. I had remember talking to my friend much later (two or three weeks after the storm flooded the city and I was able to locate him thru who knows how many friend of a friend contacts), and him saying that his neighbor, the boat owner, was across the street when he saw my friend swim over and unlatch the gate in order to take his boat, and yelling to him something to the affect that, "I am going to get you for this."

To run a public event like a fete or fairground what kind of legality issues would you have. Would you need insurance to cover any problems, or would the people who run the individual stalls (like fairground ride, or hot dog kiosk) have that insurance. Please help. Thanks.

In December of 2004 I went to an ER menstrual bleeding that had lasted for 16 weeks. I did not have insurance, so they gave me a student doctor so that he could practice on me while the regular doctor watched. They decided that my problem must be PCOD and I was prescribed Progesterone. The doctor told me that I had to be sure that I wanted to take it, because it is a birth control, and if I ever want to have more children I shouldn't take it. He told me at least four times before I left that I had been given a birth control to stop the bleeding. I got a two month prescription from him and I took it exactly as prescribed. In January I got pregnant and I gave birth in October. I went to a different doctor this year, and she told me that what they gave me as actually a fertility treatment that they give to women with PCOD rather than a birth control, she could not believe how bad they screwed up. I just wanted to know if I had legal grounds to sue, and if I could win.

On Inheritance Tax?

I personally think it's a load of crap. If your parents die, the government claims most of the things they leave to you in payment of...in payment of...NOTHING. Blair wants a new desk, why not nick it off a dead person?

The people should just give you the things in their will when they know death is imminent so it's not technically inheriting.

She purchased what she thought was a brand new Ka recently but still hasn't had the logbook through, when she queried this with the dealership she was told that they had made a mistake and they had sold her a pre registered vehicle, making her the second owner. She has paid a first registration Fee and number plate cost, and the order form is a NEW car order form. Does this fall into mis-representation under sale of goods act or something?
