NEW YORK -- City health officials are investigating the death of a baby boy who was one of three infants to contract herpes after a rabbi circumcised them.
Ten days after Rabbi Yitzhok Fischer performed religious circumcisions on twins last October, one died of herpes and the other tested positive for the virus, according to complaint filed by the health department in Manhattan Supreme Court.
The complaint, reported in Wednesday's edition of the New York Daily News, also said health officials later found a third baby who had contracted herpes after being circumcised by Fischer in late 2003.
Under Jewish law, a mohel - someone who performs circumcisions - draws blood from the circumcision wound. Most mohels do it by hand, but Fischer uses a rare practice where he uses his mouth.
Fischer's lawyer, Mark Kurzmann, told the Daily News that Fischer was cooperating with the investigation, although it's unclear whether Fischer submitted to the city's request for a blood test.

I was just curious if it is illegal to have sex with a minor? Say there is a 16 year old girl, who's love intrest is a 28 year old man, and she is his love intrest, too. Would it be illegal for the two of them to have a sexual intercourse? (Is it illegal in the U.S.?) Also, is it illegal if either the man or girl is not a resident of the country? Say he or she is a visitor?

At 16 she was raped, at 17 she became a mother, her parents supported her and child. At 18 she has no diploma because of a child and filed for assistance who stated that she could only get it if she revealed father, she still didn't get it, but now they are going after him for child support and his family is making threats as is he for custody. What can be done as the police state now it is just he said she said and will be hard to prove. He does drugs and lives very close. The concern is for that of the girl and the baby. Any ideas anyone?

I went grocery shopping in my regular store today and slipped on a small amount of water in an aisle. There werent any signs to warn of this and I didnt notice because it was small. A man witnessed this account. I did the splits and now have a bruised knee, bruised forearm from the metal rack in the aisle that I tried to cushion my fall, and hip pain. I already have back problems so I tried to go down easy and gracefully but that didnt happen. Now my hip is hurting. I let a worker know and she took my info and said that a mgr would notify me on Monday. What can I do of this situation and expect to happen? The freezer aisle is next to this aisle and I wonder if something was wrong with it and that is where the water came from. Please help..

Last year a new family moved in across the street from us. A mother and 2 girls ages 7 & 10. Sitting on the porch at night or getting ready for school in the am there was screaming and yelling at each other. The mom yelling at the girls. to get ready for school, or to do homework and get ready for bed at night. This went on every morning and night. It wasn't just yelling it was screaming like she was being murdered or stabbed a million times. Getting sick of hearing this going on I called the police and filed a report. The father obtained the report as he is trying to get custody of the girls and get them out of that environment. His lawyer called me and asked if they would be able to see the log i had of all this yelling. I had written stuff that was said and the dates.I did not know I would be asked to go to court on his behalf. What are my legal rights? Do I have to go to court? The lawyer said if i did not cooperate they would supeona me and i would go to court unwillingly.

I am curious. What would happen if when asked to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, I said no, what would happen? I have asked every lawyer I ever came in contact with and they didn't know. I am ready to do this just to find out.

My plan is to pick up about ten to fifteen day laborers in the back of my pick-up truck from the local Home Depot in Southern San Diego county.

What the day laborers don't know is that I won't be taking them to a job site; I will be driving across the United States/Mexico border, and I will be dropping them off BACK IN MEXICO!

This will be done for the good of America.

Is there anything illegal--and, more importantly, prosecutable--about doing this (other than the riding-without-a-seatbelt thing)? I don't want to hear too much legal theory (although some would be fun); I want to know if any charges could actually stick.

The United Nations International Force for the Israel/Lebanon conflict (UNIFIL) is supposed to be neutral. During the recent war, however, they were posting information about Israeli troop movements, but not Hezbollah. What gives? A tad bit unethical isn't it?

I have many cassette tapes that I would like on cd. Is it illegal to download the songs from free sites if I have already purchased the material in another format? I don't think I should have to buy something twice because technology has changed. Does anyone know the answer to this?
