No, the State of Oklahoma is not liable for her back child support. Unfortunately, you're probably never going to see the money...)(

I worked in child support enforcement in TN for a couple of years. There is no way the state would take on your ex's payments for overdue support.

Call your local child support enforcement agency and ask about the possibility of getting your ex on work release. She could be in jail, being released during the day to attend a verified job, and basically all of the money she earns could be directed to you to pay your current support first and the arrearages second.

Sorry your ex hasn't been carrying her weight. Good luck.

No, the state does not pay child support for people in jail, even if they are in jail for child support.

they will still owe you the money when they get out, and if they have property or money in the bank, your judge may allow you to attempt to get them for the money owed.

No, the state will not pay for her support obligations. The support obligation will still be owed (arrearages, support amount, court costs, etc.) when she gets out. She can, however, ask for the support to be lower or stop temporarily while in jail, due to her inability to earn sufficient income to pay for such.

The state will not pay for child support. She will be responsible for it after she gets out of jail. You can try and apply for welfare assistance. I would call your department of children and families and see if they can direct you to the appropriate sources.

Good luck to you.

Nope, but she'll still owe when she gets out and a minimum amount will probably still accrue during her incarceration. If she gets a paid prison job, maybe they'll garnish her wages?

I feel sorry for you, but happy for your son. At least he doesn't have to live with her.

The state can only help with giving you public aid (day care aid, medicare, food stamps, etc.). They can not pay her bills for her, I am afraid you are out of luck.

I should add: she will still have this debt and will still be required to pay if she can. However, it does not sound promising. Good luck!

Your son may be entitled to social security if she payed into it. My boyfriends ex girlfriend's kids did when her ex husband went to jail. Sorry the sounded so Jerry Springer.
