I was just curious if it is illegal to have sex with a minor? Say there is a 16 year old girl, who's love intrest is a 28 year old man, and she is his love intrest, too. Would it be illegal for the two of them to have a sexual intercourse? (Is it illegal in the U.S.?) Also, is it illegal if either the man or girl is not a resident of the country? Say he or she is a visitor?

First off, let's just say that internet relationships are worthless. You are probably not talking to a 16 year old girl. You are probably talking to a 45 year old man that still lives at home with his mommy and beats off to you typing nightly. Secondly, it will all depend on what state you are planning to bone this guy in if it is illegal or not. The age of consent varies from state to state. Lastly, try going to a damn club or something like that. I am quite sure they have them in all countries. Find a local person that you can confirm is what they tell you they are before traveling across a damn ocean to bone them.
Oh, by the way, traveling across state lines to bone a minor is a federal offense, so I am quite sure traveling across country borders would be pretty damn bad too. Have a nice day!

Statutory rape is the crime committed by the 28 year old man for having sexual intercourse with a 16 year old girl who is a minor even if there was consent. It is punishable under the Penal Law.

Age of consent laws vary by state. However, a 28-year-old man cannot possibly have anything in common with a 16-year-old girl. It wouldn't be a healthy relationship and certainly no appropriate even if it was legal.

It is illegal and that is just weird. Why can't the 28 yr old man get a woman his own age? Sounds like a case of pedophilia to me.

you ask seperately if it is illegal in the US. i must assume you are not in the US. well yes, it is illegal in every state in the union, but it is legal nearly everywhere else on the planet. most countrys have an age of consent of 16 or below. some, like japan are 13

Every state in the US has their own laws as to what the legal age is. You can go to jail for having sex with a minor, and be charged with rape.

Depends on the state you are in. Some states have a statutory age of 16, some are higher. Doesn't matter who you sleep with, it depends on the age requirement in your state.

It is statutory rape for a person of majority age to have premarital sex with a minor and citizenship is not relevant to the issue. It only matters where they have sex and if they were married at the time.
