Yeah I feel safe at night. It depends where you live. Just because my doors are locked doesn't mean I don't feel safe. It means I have a brain. Too many people anymore walk around and steal. As to the high crimes stats you are likely hearing either exaggerated or selective statistics.

I always feel safe. Even being a white guy in west side Chicago or Harlem New York at night.
There was a study done on victims of crime. The people who have been arrested for the crimes were questioned whom do they choose for their crime. Who do they look for? The answer was easy targets. People who looked like victims.
If you hear someone coming up behind you, turn around and take a good look. They said they didn't like to attack a person who could recognize them.
If you could find the study on the web, it's a good read.

Yes. I feel safe, I just make sure my doors are locked. Its not like there is a murder in every neighborhood, and I don't even live in the suburbs. Most of the crimes I see are drug related. And since I'm not involved in drug activity I really don't have much to worry about.

It depends on where I am. If I am in an upscale area of town, or an area short on minorities, then yes, I feel safe for the most part; I don't even like being in the "hood" during the daytime, let alone at night.
