If that child wants to live with relatives and stay in school, can child leave parents at 17 and a half and if you know answer, how do you know? Is there a web site that can help ? I'm not talking about becoming emancipated. That's something different.

In california they must be 18. My source is the california statutes. There ARE ways around the statute, marriage or child birth being two of them (which is NOT equivalent to emancipation). If the child has graduated from high school (not dropped out!) the child may leave under certain conditions.

Children can leave home at any age - the awkward bit starts if they don't mean to come back.
