My mother will not press charges againest her> I was wondering if I can even though its not my account.

We have tried 8 different rehabs none have worked and she has stolen from me and my family for awhile now I was hoping sending her to jail or just to have her in front of a judge would scare her straight. She is now an adult and can check herself out of rehab without me.
Thanks

Anyone can report a crime. It would be up to the local police department to determine if they wish to go forward with the crime.
As far as "pressing charges" there is a common mistake when people think that they have the right to bring or drop charges. The fact is only the state has that right in a criminal action. Now, if a victim is not cooperating, and the state cannot prove the case in any other way they will probably drop the charges, but if they can still prove the case they could just as easily continue without the victims cooperation (this happens a lot with domestic violence cases).
In this case, however, your mother is an essential witness. She has to testify that your daughter did not have permission to take the money. So, if your mother is not willing to do that then I would let it go.

Only the victim can press charges in a case like this. Just do your best to protect your mom's accounts in the future so it doesn't happen again, and find a way to make your daughter pay back what she stole (sell some of her property). You might alert your mom's bank that there was a fraudulent withdrawal by your daughter to see if they can add a safeguard to the account at that end.

You can report her for illegal drug activiities, it is up to the DA to press charges.

Your mother would have press charges for the bank account stuff.

Do you hate your daughter? I noticed there is nothing in your question about how to help your daughter.

I don't think you can, but you can talk to your mother about closing that account and opening up a new account in another bank somewhere you daughter doesn't know about.

Instead of pressing charges, I think it would be best that you try and get her help. If you lay charges against her she will only end up resenting you. Then there will be this endless cycle of hurt, anger, and pain. Take care, and good luck.

Yes charges can be pressed but it has to be your mother that does it. Chances are you will never see the money.

First of all i dont think you should press charges because she is your own daughter. And it is partly her fault because if she starts she cant stop even though she wants to. I believe you should send her to therapy. And i suggest you talk to her because she also needs tlc.

you have to do something ok. but dont press charges on her. that wont do anything but give her alot more connections. look you just need to make her realize that she's gonna screw her life up and that she needs help. putting her in jail is gonna do alot more bad than good. come on she's your daughter.

Unfortunatley, no you cannot. However, you can put the law enforcement on alert to her activities. She may start stealing from others that she believes will not turn her in or file charges on. good luck
