I received a letter from a "family owned" business saying I was entitled to money as a former landowner. My home was sold in a sheriff's sale for delinquent property taxes. According to the letter I am entitled to money from the government under current law. I searched Indiana's unclaimed money and my name didn't come up. Is there such a law or is this a scam?

It sure would be a nice national treasure to hear the inner workings of the bush administration and how they decided policies and how their meetings went on strategies to take in dealing with the problems they faced.

Like a fly on the wall in all those meetings that Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld, Alberto Gonzales took part in.

Unflipping believable... this congress rolls, over plays dead and thats all they have done since they started ! They are irrelevant to the polital process. JUST STAY ON VACATION PERMANENTLY !!! You guys are just giving up your sole authority to protect the public, you just might as well dont come back.

Quote from movie "V" :

"And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror."

Who would have ever thought that cigarette smoking or sexual harrassment in offices would be banned? So why would it be unusual to contemplate a world where permission had to be sought before having your pic taken? If you were famous and needed the publicity, you could perhaps have a frame of reference outlining under which circumstances you would like your pic taken... At an outdoor cafe but not walking your baby, for example. With all these cameras on mobile phones, people are very vulnerable. What happened to privacy? I don't mean the cameras they have in the street to record bag snatching and stuff, I mean individuals on the street just snapping you, say eating a banana on a park bench.

ever heard? I'm a moderate to liberal Dem, and I don't know any dems that support any kind of extreme regimes or dictators, left or right. I think maybe Social Workers party might admire those, but not even Dennis Kucinich would praise Chavez or Castro. It's such a silly example of Hannity/Limgaugh/O'Reilly/Coulter and their black and white thinking.
If I think the USA would improve if it became a bit more like Canada, that means (to them) that I want North Korea???
Stop being so ridiculous. I don't even compare your Bush to Hitler. That's really stretching it too, but cons have major problems with cognitive distortions: fortune telling, all or nothing thinkng, disqualifying the positive, magnifying the negative, and jumping to conclusions.

That's why they ignore their best candidates like Joe Biden? Is it all about hype and "trend" with them? This turns me off to Democrats a lot.

I have listened to Hilary Clinton, Barak Obama and John Edwards all talking about health care. Hilary is talking about universal healthcare system how come the usa is resistant to universal health care system which would help those who can't afford health insurance. I have read that there are X amount of America who either under insured or have no insurance at all because they can't aford it. I know that the insurance companies make a fortune in the US but like UK/Canada we have national insurance and if we need operations we don't have to sell our homes or worry about insurance and if you want private healthcare insurance then thats an option too.

Before the vote on the Agriculture spending bill for the next fiscal year, Republicans offered a nifty little motion to recommit so that illegal immigrants would not receive taxpayer funded government welfare. (My compliments to whoever thought that one up.)

Well, because a few of the Democrats can’t afford to have an ad in their next campaign saying he wanted to give illegal immigrants federal funds, Nancy Pelosi’s duct-taped majority sprung another leak. The motion to recommit, whose passage would scuttle the Democrats’ bill offering taxpayer benefits to illegal immigrants, was on the verge of passage, with 215 votes in favor and 213 votes opposed. Yet another ring was about to run around Pelosi and her bumbling leadership team.

Then it happened.
The presiding officer, the guy in the big chair with the gavel, was Democrat Congressman Michael McNulty, who would apparently make a compelling contestant on Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?, gaveled the vote closed – repeat
