You are not thinking logically.
The convenient approach to the war in Iraq would be to simply pull our troops out and glide along on the political whims of popular opinion - or to not have confronted or responded to the terrorists in the first place - after all, wasn't this pretty much the policy of the prior administrations?
Instead, this administration has confronted what it sees as a serious threat to our safety and security - regardless of the political back lash. Isn't that what we really need from our leaders in times of crisis?
As far as reality - it doesn't get any more real than the constant terror and murder that the Islamic militants have perpetrated all over the globe against the United States for over 25 years - let alone the events of 9/11. The people who would prefer to not confront this ideology of hatred and domination are those who do not want to, or simply can't, face the true reality of this threat.

Most are purely based on what the govt WANTS to be true, not what the facts actually show.
