A criminal mind is borne out of desperation. That's what most of criminality boils down to, in general. Sometimes it's socio-economic, sometimes it's for attention, but desperation is at the root of most crime (if not all of it).

I don't think you can pin point it down to one area and say that for instance "desperation" is the root cause. There are too many different factors that cause a person to turn ot a life of crime. Greed can be a factor because a person might get away with something one time and then decide they can get something more the next time. There is also the thrill of getting away with something and then it becomes a rush, and a person might find himself trying bigger things each time. There are also the people who just seem to be born with a criminal mind, and show signs at an early age. Jeffrey Dahmer is a classic case of a serial killer who when young was known to torture and kill birds, frog, etc just for the fun of it. The environment one is born into plays a major role in how a person turns out. If friends or relatives are into criminal activities, there is a chance that the individual might get involved through chance or by choice. There are so many different reasons why somebody turns into a criminal that there is not enough space here to dicuss it, but these are some of my thoughts.

Maybe some criminals dont have a ciminal mind but fall into the catagory of being a criminal from out of desperation, had to do something to stay alive/eat have a roof over their head etc etc etc.
Maybe some just fall into it as it is all they have known, grown up with a family that always commits crime so see it as okay if you know what I mean.
I don't think we will ever really know, I mean you could interview a milion people in jail or who has come out of jail and you still wouldn't know for sure as each case will be different.

Some think stealing is an easy way to get money and avoid work.
Some use drugs and turn to crime to support their habit.
Some get a thrill out of the danger.
Some are easily influenced and managed to fall in with the wrong crowd and commit crimes to impress their friends.
Some are just plain evil, like serial killers and child molestors.
They're all idiots.
There are a tiny percentage turn to crime out of desperation to feed their families when they have no resources left, or at least none they are aware of.

there are a lot of factors that contibrute to a person's mindset, but it all comes down to personal choice, the criminal choices to behave like one

The farther we are from God, then the closer we are to satin. Satin is the author of sin. It's not that hard. It's actually quite simple. Most people just prefer not to deal with God.

well me and my friends were egging houses and random cars at 1:30 am; my friend accidently hit a cop car and i think he got caught...probably cuz he didnt see the car properly until it stopped right infront of him.
We dont know what was going through our mind, we were trying to have fun but we got scared then but hid and didnt get caught. If we get away with it, we'll be rockstars at school and tell this story to our grandchildren. we were 16-17 y/o screwing around in a toronto neighbourhood.
