Who would have ever thought that cigarette smoking or sexual harrassment in offices would be banned? So why would it be unusual to contemplate a world where permission had to be sought before having your pic taken? If you were famous and needed the publicity, you could perhaps have a frame of reference outlining under which circumstances you would like your pic taken... At an outdoor cafe but not walking your baby, for example. With all these cameras on mobile phones, people are very vulnerable. What happened to privacy? I don't mean the cameras they have in the street to record bag snatching and stuff, I mean individuals on the street just snapping you, say eating a banana on a park bench.

I don't mean where you are in the background, I mean where you are the reason the pic is being taken, when you are the focual point, without knowing it.

How do you ban somthing like that if you are on vacation and you take picture of your family and there are others in the Picture how would cut them out. Or how would you get there permission. In certain States they cover it for people that take pictures in Restrooms and such but if you are in public You might as well face it You are on camera. as I said about vacations I wanted a pic of the Big Mac Bridge in upper Michigan but I wanted it with ot people that was nearly imposible and THe heck with me going and asking permission for that. People in public exspose them self to any and every thing. I guess the only solution is Stay home. Do not go into public. This is just the way I feel but that is why this is a great Country and taking the rights away by passing laws is not going to help You know law are there to protect the bad guys any ways I know I had a baby Killed and the people got away with it. Why they made it a law. Granting a three year statue of limitaion Who is that law protecting Not My son not you Not me Just the person that took his life. and that is True. So think real careful what you are asking for because they just may pass a law and guess what when your older and not thinking of it. You will take a Picture of some one and Then You will be the one breaking the law. Just a Thought

Not in a public place. If I'm taking pictures of a city scape and you happen to walk by, or if I'm photographing my kids but can see you in the background, of if I just want to take a picture of an old fashioned park bench and you happen to be there it should be allowed.

Now If I walk up to you and snap away, I should get permission.

Only to a certain extent. If the person took pics of a crowd of people walking down the street, and you happened to be one of them, that would be ok. on the other hand, if they were taking pictures of you and butchered them and/or set them up in a negative fashion, that would be publicly mocking you, which is not a very nice thing. =/

Nowadays with this camera on the mobile phone, people just could not be bothered to ask for permission before taking photos. Yes you can even sue them.

if you are in public, what you do is public. all the camera does is record what you made available for anyone to see.

if you are on someone else's property, they have the right to record your behavior for the usual protection of their property reasons -- store cameras, etc.

it is only when you aren't famous and are on own property out of public sight that you have any reasonable expectation of privacy.

get used to it ... freedom applies to either everyone or no one.

Professional Photographers, will always ask your permission first, except news photographers.

If you have a beautiful house, and a photographer wants to take a picture of it to enter it into an art contest, he or she needs your permission.

If your house is on fire, that is news, and they don't need your permission.

Once you commercialize the info then there couild be a legal issue on the State Level.

But our Consti. gives us freedom of the press, which is very broad.
