I am trying to take my Argentine partner to the U.S. on holiday. He is a Spanish resident. His papers are all in order so it should not be a problem. The problem is he doesn't have an appointment at the U.S. embassy in Madrid until the 11th Jan and we fly on the 14th. On the web site it says upwards of 5 days. Does anyone have experience of this or know if it possible to speed the process up?

Has anyone else had this happen to them? I am studying abroad next semester in Paris on January 11, 2008. I recently got my student visa at the French Consulate. For some reason, on my visa it says valid from FEB 11, - Aug 11, 2008. I don't know if this is a typo, or if it is supposed to be like that. I didn't think a consulate could be so incompetent to mess up the dates so I'm still confused. I tried calling them but no one is answering. Thanks!!!

I put in my application online on the 16th and gave my biometric information (fingerprints, photos) a few days ago. I'm studying abroad starting on the 14th of january - can I get it in time? the embassy in LA no longer takes general calls in person and i have to pay by the minute ($3/min) to a third-party service if I want to check up on the status of my visa. anyone have similar experiences? thanks!

I am going to Paris on January 11th, 2008. For some reason, the validity date on my French Visa says, Feb 11-Aug 11, 2008. It is a +1 Transit Schengen visa. I don't know if this is a typo or if the dates are supposed to be like that. I also can't contact the French Consulate right now because they are closed. Does anyone know if it will be a problem? my college sent me an I-20 but unfortunately it got lost after about a month in the postal service system though it was sent tru express.Now i got an earlier appointment date before my I-20 was suposed to come.(2nd January,2008).Now i requsted for a new I-20 a day ago and its been sent tru DHL but my reporting date is on the 15th january and i have to reschedule my F-1 visa appointment,now am desperate and want to know if i can be granted an interview(9th) looking about 6days more for reporting date on my I-20 fro that day.Will they allow me for an F-1 interview looking at the date limit(3 days for visa processing in my country)Do you think i have the chance for an F-1 interview?What can i do to convince them looking at my plight which was automatically not my fault?will they look at my reprting date b4 even granting me an interview?If they even grant me the interview or the visa will they stop processing if they see it will eat into my reporting date,or are they going to process it

I'm currently a 4th year medical student in Poland and I have a 1-year polish non-schengen visa ending on January 3rd 2008. I will complete my studies and get my degree on March 15th 2008. But I must leave the country on January 3rd. And since the Schengen has expanded I can't just go to Germany and get the free '90 day tourism' stamp. What are my options? Can I go to the UK and come right back? Do I need to go to the US and wait 180 days? I have not traveled to Germany in over 8 months so i'm not sure the 180 day rule applies to me. Maybe I should just keep a low profile for 2 more and take my chances. Also, i am an american citizen. I appreciate any insight.

I've not heard from him in over a year- so I am very worried he has come into harm. He called me once, but the line broke up. He is from Najaf, Iraq. I have been emailing and calling the American Embassy in Cairo with no replies. They are open Sunday-Thursday from 1pm-4pm and I have been calling at the right times, keeping in mind the time differences. All I get is a recording asking me to wait. Why will they never answer the phone or email? Has anyone else had this happen?

Its a major pain getting them renewed $80 each plus time off work for BOTH parents and round trip travel to London. Can we just take the expired passports with us and travel on their valid British passports.
