I am going to Paris on January 11th, 2008. For some reason, the validity date on my French Visa says, Feb 11-Aug 11, 2008. It is a +1 Transit Schengen visa. I don't know if this is a typo or if the dates are supposed to be like that. I also can't contact the French Consulate right now because they are closed. Does anyone know if it will be a problem? Thanks.

Request for an extension of your visa in order to conform with the correct period of your study in Paris.

Might be a problem. When I went abroad, I think they may have done that to mine as well though. I think the reasoning is that you can stay there for 30 days without a visa (so you only really need a visa starting in February). Check though.

Better to make it clear before you go to France. Asked them to revise your visa date.

You should probably just make it a big effort to contact the embassy because it seems like they have made a mistake on the dates.

Since about 1994 or so, it is not required to hold a Visa if one is visiting certain countries (there are about 30 or 40 of said countries) for less than a month. Because of this, some clerks are kind enough to postpone the date of arrival on the Visa so that you have an extra month onto the end of your stay. However, upon return to the US, many people may run into trouble at the Customs and Immigration checkpoint in the Airport due to slight formalities caused by the postponement of your visa dates.

Nonetheless, you will get to Paris just fine.
