Hello, my chinese water dragon, well i think is dieing and i need to konw if she is really sick. Well she is brown on her whole back, and she always has her mouth cracked open, or even wide open, and she barely eats! She is always sleeping and is taking forever to shed! Their are only little flakes peiling off her. Well these symtoms are occurring and she is only 9 inches long! Is she dieing or developing!? Is this normal? Is she just going through her phases? Thank you and have a great day, and also I bought this pet from a PET STORE. {petsmart} well what can i do to help all of this? Thank you!!!!!

I have a ball python and he is deffinatly ready for feeder mice. I know that there are pinkies, fuzzies, etc, but i was curious what the difference in each were. A nutritional breakdown would be helpful too if possible.

My Red Ear Slider turtle's shell looks like it is peeling off in sections. I don't know whether it is supposed to do this every so often and if I should take it to a vet or not. Thanks.

He is molting and he was acting funny rubbing his eyes a lot and acting like it bothered him to keep them open, so I helped him a bit with the dead skin cause it was all over his legs and stuff and since then he's been acting fine. Should he still go to the vet, or is it most likely because he was trying to molt and get it off and it was getting in his eyes and irrtating them? ( I know I shouldn't peel it off, but I was careful and he REALLY needed it apparenlty)

I have a Bearded Dragon and have read that vegetables are crucial to their balanced diet, but when I try to feed him collard greens sprayed with tap water he refuses to eat it. I have no problem feeding him live food (crickets, super meal worms). Are there any suggestions on a vegetable that he may prefer more than the collard greens? I have only tried the greens based on the advice of the guy at the pet store who sold him to me. Can I give him fruit, if so what kind of fruit?

I didn't say captive, I said domesticated. Captive breeding is selecting for traits which are the opposite of what nature selects for--unusual colors for example. A high yellow albino ball python with pied markings would scream "Here's your lunch!" A super giant designer leopard gecko would stand out like the broiled scallop on an appetizer tray of cocktail franks to a hungry predator.

The changes we select for in captive breeding are not all readily visible. Animals which have less natural wariness breed more freely in captivity, passing this trait, which would get them quickly killed in nature, on to their offspring. It's the same selective breeding process which turned wolves into dogs and aurochs into cattle.

We are on the frontier of creating new domestic species with some of our captive bred reptiles. I don't see this as a bad thing. Our pets might someday be reverse selected to restock a disease or hunting depleted wild population. What are your thoughts?
