I don't know that everyone will know that this is a federally endangered species. The main threats are human activities and egg predation. The government has already gained cooperation of landowners through most of the habitat - but it would help to establish and enforce a "no public entry" zone during nesting season. For predation, a group of volunteers could monitor nesting sites to keep predators away or they could collect the eggs, incubate them, and release the young turtles once the eggs have hatched (although some of the young could be preyed upon by alligators).
