If your hermit crap is a land hermit crab then you should put the hermit crab underwater for about 4 seconds, let it breathe, then repeat the process for about one minute. that would give your hermit crab a nice bath. Before you even start to give him the bath, dip his/her legs in the water so the crab won't get frightened. Make sure you are holding it by the shell at all times!!! Good luck!! By the way...always keep a very shallow pool of water in your hermit craps cage so it doesn't shrivel up and die.
Good luck and best wishes!!!

It depends on what kind of Hermit Crabs you have, if they are land ones then don't keep them in water, give them lots of water sources like sponges so they can go and get their water. Water Hermits have to stay in water.

Land Hermit Crabs shloud never be kept in water, they do not like soggy and wet conditions full time.
They do like to go down into water and even swim in their water dishes, but on their terms, not by a human dumping them into a bucket of water etc.
One shloud never use tap water with land hermit crabs, the chemicals in our tap water will burn the crab's madified gills and is toxic to them.
They actually can drown if not provided a way out of their water dishes, but an owner shloud never force them to live in water.

You probably just need to keep the ground moist and what I did was I got a peice o sea sponge, drenched it in water, then my hermit crab would come and suck on it.

They will actually drown. They live on sand, but they should have a shallow pool of water with a sea sponge in it. They don't live in water.
