My box turtle has a mind of his own. He usually comes to me when he sees me, but I don't think he knows that I'm calling his name. Typically right after I feed him and he is not hungry he will ignore me and could care less if I live or die, like a typical animal. Has anyone ever taught their box turtle to come when called? My turtle seems to pick up more on hand motions such more than noises.

I know a girl that used a bell to potty train her dog. After a while the dog rung the bell and told her when he needed to go outside. She is hoping that by ringing a bell in the turtles cage each time she feeds him he will start to associate food with it and ring it himself when he is hungry. Think it will work? It works for dogs and cats always associate noises with food, like can openers. Any pointers on how I can teach my box turtle some decent stuff?

i went to the pet store and they said if i get a 10 gallon tank i still have to clean the water even though i have a filter is this true? to me it does not make sense because if u have a filter why u still need to clean the water? if anyone knows the answer please help me i also need to know what exactly u need for taken care of a turtle i want to make sure it gets the proper treatment it needs. please answer asap

I have two red ear sliders, one's about 3 1/2 " and the other is 4". They have about 30 gal. of water in their 40 gal tank, but i will be upgraded as soon as i save up enough money. right now i am using the zoo meds 501 canister filter and i am having to clean it about every two days if not everyday. i need something lot more powerful. i've used the fluval internal filters in the past but i just hate the hassel of having to stick my hand in the water everytime i need to clean it. i like having the canister filter but i just need something stronger.
i was considering going with a fluval 305 but it's a lot of money to invest. i probably won't be getting a new tank anytime soon, but in the mean time i do need to get the new filter.
so, which one do you think is the best?

I have a 1 gallon tank and am ready to stock it with something. I have done a lot of research and have found that I am very limited. Will just one African Dwarf Frog survive in my tank?

I've had an Iguana, "Snack", for about 1 1/2 - 2 years..He's not as large as he should be..What should I feed him to help him grow? He's picky..I've spent around 50 dollars on actual iguana food and he won't touch it..He spills it out..I give him lots of greens..but other than that any tips?

My ball in about 3 years old, about 6 feet and I just noticed something unusal about her. Her underbelly is very pink, and she also has a few red spots on her belly. They don't really look like blister they aren't raised or anything. They are just red splotches. I don't think it could be from a burn because she doesn't have a undertank heater or a heat rock, just a heat lamp. She also didn't eat when I tried to feed her, and her scales on her belly seem really dry or something funny? If anyone knows what this might be from please let me know as soon as possible.

So,what kind of reptiles (and how many) can you keep comfortably in a 29 gallon tank? (same as a 20 gallon long,measurement wise. It's just a bit taller)

I'm looking into reptiles and I'm horribly curious. The tank isn't sealed,so it won't hold water,hence reptile tank. =)

A few facts about the animals suggested would be wonderful,but they aren't entirely necessary if you don't feel like it. I'll be doing ungodly amounts of research,anyway. ^^

I got these 2 frogs my my 7th grade teacher and that was a few years ago.....and she never told me what kind they are..but...I was wondering if I tell you a little about them you could tell me?

They are dark green with black "Camo" on there backs... Their bellys are white.. they have "bubble" like eyes...They live in a tank of water (No land), they eat Shrimp Pellets, they are awake at night (most of the time) ,They like to stay still alot....they live in fresh water....they shed small amounts of their skin sometimes (smaller than the size of a penny), they are a little smaller than my hand (as big as my palm...almost) ....and thats about all I know

She is a little lethargic and has diahorrea. There have been no changes in diet (she normally has leaves and a little fruit) and is in a suitable enclosure with UV and a spotlight. Any ideas?
