I took my bd to the vet 3 days ago, because she wouldnt put on weight. The blood tests came back today. She has something wrong with the way she takes in protein and fat. I think it might be hereditary, because her father was looking slim when i got her from the local breeder. So i called the breeder up to ask some questions. He told me that there was some type of protein/fat deficiancy. He told me that the his vet (he has checks on all of his dragons) informed him that when a dragon has this kind of issue, and there is no parasites, worms, etc, which there werent, its best to feed them small mice which will slowly add weight without the harmful side affects. And after a year, one fuzzy every other day, with salad available at all times. Of course i was sceptical, so i called my vet and made another appointment earlier. She basically informed me that, that would deffinatly be the best route to take. Ive heard so many horror stories about feeding mice to bds... any ideas?

So my son brought home a baby newt. It sure is a little guy, about 3 inches long. We have tried meal worms, crickets (live) and I purchased Newt pellets. (brown) With the pellets he/she will put one in their mouth then spit it out. Is it eating the pellets? I mean taking a bite off of it, or just spitting it out? What else could I try to feed this little guy?

Thanks!

I have been looking at several sites and they offer what they call "marine toads" and what they are is CANE toads. They're toxic, and can kill pets in minutes.

So why would they sell these to people under a 'false' name? (By false I mean they're trying to make it into something else.)

If anyone has a 'Marine toad,' do you like it, can you hold it, etc. I am thrilled with the idea of a giant toad(I had an american toad when I was seven, she lived for about 5 years.) I am not so thrilled about the fact that its a cane toad. Any experiance with them that you can share would be nice. Thanks.

The shell appears rougher than a slider's shell. It is about 1 1/2 inch in size. The point around the edge have a light yellow dot on them.

Is there any way to make Bearded Dragon food?
How do you make the dry stuff you can buy?
Is there an easier way to get beardie food? No-one sells crickets here!

Hi. I just got a snake, but I don't know anything about snakes! Can you give me some advice?

He's a brown-swamp greenish colo(u)r, his belly has cream colo(u)red stripes with black squares, and he's about 40 cm long.

What kind of snake is this?

What does he eat?

Is he poisonous?

If anyone has any advice, or a good website, I would appreciate it very much.

I Just bought my first Jones Armadillo lizard and the store that I bought it from didnt seem like they really had it together, they told me to get Desert Sand terrarium Substrate because thats what they used at the pet store, they also set me up with a Fluker's clamp lamp that is 5.5" that holds incandescent or ceramic heat emitters, and they said the 75watt tight beam bulb "terrerium Daytime Lamp" How far should the light be to the floor of the tank? Also they said i was suppost to keep it 75-80 degrees is that right? How often does the light need to be turned on? I also read that armadillo lizards get to be three to six inches, the store that i bought him from set me up with like a ten gallon tank is that large enough? What size tank should I have?

Some kid just dropped off 2 Female RES and I don't know much about them. I know about Diamondback Terrapins since I help with a release program, but they are different types of turtles so I'm not to sure, turtles aren't my strong point. I tried giving them pellets and little feeder fish but I don't think they ate any. I know what temps they need and how much water but what is best to feed them and what size tank should I put them in they are about 4-5 inches. Thanks.

setup consists for 40 gallon wide tank, 200 watt heater, emperor 400 filter, and many other accessories.

unfortunately, due to my strict parents and their heavy pressure and criticism, I most likely have to let go of the 40 gallon tank (because its too big, how am i going to change the water, etc)
even though i know 40 gallons is still not enough for 2 RES's the size I have. In reality w/no limits, I should be having 80 gallons, for example.

So because i have to return the 40 gallon, I need to get another one still, my best option right now is to get a 29 gallon, even though i dont like that one because the botttom is not wide at all, it is much more of a fish tank. the 40 gallon i got right now is wide and it is perfect for plenty of room for the 2 turtles.

question is, is the emperor 400 too much for a 29 gallon? (it works up to 80 gallons) i origionally bought the emperor 280 (it works up to 50 gals). is more the better? meaning, 2x the easier the tank? 2x cleaner? thank you!!!

hi, I bought 3 beardies on friday and since researching have found that they have not been kept in the right conditions by their previous owners. they are adult dragons (siblings) 2 boys and a girl (i think?) and were being fed on LETTUCE! with only the luxury of bugs once or twice a month!! I am doing my best to improve their living conditions and diet but am a little concerned as one of the boys the smallest of the 3 has mucus at the sides of his mouth, seems very very dosile and the top part of his head were the two horn type bone is seems to be very soft? is this normal? they dont seem to move about very much just sleep most of the time. they love locusts and seem to be eating well so could this be down to a change in diet? please help x

I found this turtle, a baby one, and it was by a pond. I guess it swims in the water but my question is can it live without water? Or can it live in land? Help me please.
