Bearded dragons they live a while and they are good pets to have it you don't like much upkeep. Make sure that if you were to get one, tht it came from a pet store. Breeders are okay, but you have to be cautious. I got my bearded dragon from a breeder, and mine is wild and grumpy. These animals are usely gentle, friendly, and docile. Their fun to have, and are a bigger lizard, too.

the best reptile to own in my opinion is the "leopard Gecko" they are very easy to keep, and they are fantastic pets for the first time, as they hardly ever bite, i've had mine for two weeks and already she asks to come out and be handled. they eat crickets which you can pick up for around £2.50 for a big box, they also eat mealworms and for an adult one they may eat "pinkies" which are day old pink mice that you can buy from good pet stores or reptile shops. the most expensive part of the ownership is probally the cost of a heat mat which are around £15. the actual gecko is around £25 onwards to buy. They are just the most beautiful reptile to own.

Bearded dragons are infamous for being nice lizards but they get really big and need a large cage. Avoid tropical lizards or snakes, humidity is hard to maintain at the same time as circulation of air. Kingsnakes, gopher snakes are both good pets. I've been bit by far more lizards than snakes and from my experience, lizards need more constant handling then snakes to maintain a good disposition. Leopard geckos also make good pets and are really easy and stay pretty small. Amphibians can be harder. Do some research on care and then ask again about behavior of a specific species you think might be good and see what people say.

Reptiles don't like to be handled much. Almost all scratch or bite or both. If you want something to handle go with a mammal.(maybe a mouse) Since reptiles are wild they are not only hard to handle but cost alot of money to take care of. So think about how much money your willing to pay for a pet.(Uvb bulbs, cages, food, and etc are expensive)

Russuan Tortoise, Bearded Dragon, or a Water dragon. NO IGUANAS. They are EVIL.
Please dont buy from a pet store if you can help it. Hardly any pet store knows what its doing anymore, so please be responsible and buy from a breeder. You can go to the classifieds on Kingsnake.com and see if people are giving their beardies away or anything else. You can also find private breeders who do know what they're doing.
Russian torts are easy to take care of, but must NEVER be put in an aquarium setting. They dont understand glass and will rub their noses raw trying to get out. They should be in a homemade tortoise table(if housed indoors) that is at least 4x2 feet. I have my 2 girls in a table like that. The sides need to be at least twice the length of the shell, as they are rather good climbers. They only eat veggies/fruit, so feed collard greens, kale, turnip greens, etc. Careful, a lot of food is harmful!
Water dragons require a cage that is at least 4x2x3, so it needs to be larger. They get to be about 2 feet or a little more, depending on sex. They are very friendly and cute to watch. They need high heat and high humidity, or they will develop problems. They eat mostly insects but can be ofered a little bit of veggies.
Good luck with your decision! All reptiles need UV light, tho, remember that!

We have a Corn snake she is a beauty, We have upgraded her tank to 4 ft cos they can grow to 5-6ft long. She is easy to look after cheap to feed, live on mice. We buy 10 and they last weeks. She loves being handled and the more you pick her up the used to you she gets. She has never bit anyone and we have had her 18 months, although you don't want to disturb while she's eating or she gets mad. CORN SNAKES RULE..

I have two water dragons. They are easy to care for pets, but most reptiles do need larger cages. The males can get up to 3 feet long and they do need warmth and humidity. But I keep my UV heatlamps on and keep my house around 70, and haven't had any problems with them. Look at the website listed. She has some great ideas for cages that will keep them safe, also if you have a lizard that likes to rub its face on the cage, you can put low plants or fake ivy around the bottom of the cage to keep them off it.

Newts are easy to look after. I used to have one. They are extremely easy to handle and they enjoy being handled too! They don't need a huge tank either!

A leopard gecko, bearded dragon, kingsnakes, cornsnakes and ball python
IGUANAS ARE NOT EVIL like Sputz said they just are very difficult to care for and require a lot of room and handling to tame them.
