Absolutly no insects!!!!!! Iguanas are a lot of work and cost a lot of money. They grow to be 7ft and need a 7' long x 5' wide x 7' tall cage. Lettuce is bad for them it has no nutritional value at all.
They should be feed:
45% leafy greens such as escarole, dandelions, endive, mustard, and collards, NO lettuces or spinach! They aren't good for him.
45% hard mixed veggies such as an orange flesh squash the harder the better(acorn,pumpkin,butternut... fresh green beans, fresh peas, parsnip, and green bell peppers, NO broccoli or cauliflower, or avocado!
10% fruit such as figs, papaya, mango, pear, and berries. NO bananas, only very rarely as a treat.
NO ANIMAL PROTEIN such as bugs, meat, eggs, or cheese! They can not process animal protien even though they will eat it, it binds calaium that keeps them healthly.
Temperature:
They need a basking area of 95-100 and normal temps of 75-85. NO heat rocks!
Lights:
They need a 5.0 UV light.
Hydration:
They should also get baths everyday or so. And should have a water bowl in their cage.
Vet:
You should take Your Iguana for regular vet checkups to make sure it is in good health. Reptiles can have internal parasites that can harm them so you should make sure the vet checks that.
Here are some good sites, the first one was recomended by my vet.

Iguanas are vegitarians. They should be fed a "salad" with a big variety of foods. Collard Greends, Mustard Greens, Dandelion Greens, Strawberries, Bannana, Apple, etc. Don't feed the same thing every time, switch it up because they need to get all of the required nutriants that they need to live long lives and be healthy.
But do remember that the diet is not the only thing required for a healthy Iguana. They need UVB for proper bone growth. As well as they need a basking area.
Please remember Iguanas get very large and tend to become aggressive during mating seasons.

Iguanas as a whole are regarded as omnivores, but usually tend to consume plants, mainly leaves and fruits. Sometimes iguanas (especially younger ones) will eat eggs, insects and other smaller vertebrates. Note, however, that the feeding of green iguanas in captivity is a separate issue — although the lizards will eat animal food if presented with it, it has been argued that systematic consumption of animal protein is likely to result in severe health problems and possible premature death

I frequent the local pet store. The owner states that iguanas require fresh fruit every day. The fruit must be chopped up in small pieces.

Iguanas eat fruits and vegetables. They are the only vegeterian reptile. All other reptiles eat meat and vegetables. Iguanas only eat fruits and vegetables.

Rebecca B has the best info so far - here's a very good website where you can find everything your iggy should eat, some things that should only be given occassionally, and items to AVOID (insects, animal protein)!

Veggies, lots of them. The darker green the better. Basically they should have a multicolored diet, dark greens, Orange (carrots squash etc), red...get the picture? Variety is important
