in the UK you need a DWA (Dangerous Wild Animals) licence, you get them from the local council, you need to set up a suitable enclosure, get a vet to check it, then the council will check it, then they will decide if you can have one, they can also set thier own fee with no limit, this has to be done every year.

Yes you do need a licence to keep venomous snakes in this country. You will also need some kind of specialised training too. The only place I know of that does do courses is in Walsall in the West Midlands.

in some places you need a licences for them, you should have alot of expirence before keeping hots. i live in pa and i do not need a permit for the venomous snakes i keep. raven song i would say getting sick for a venomous bite it the least he would have to worry about, the worst would be losing a hand finger arm or he could die.

Erm first off do you have the experiance to keep a venomous snake?? Theres WAY more care in tending them thn a non venomous, if you get Struck you get sick, if it gets out...you could get struck....you have to handle them with kit gloves...
City and state ordinances differ... while your state may say Its okay, your city may say no, or your county may be okay but your city says no...some places they are completely banned others you MAY need a permit for "Non native species" of that state, some are banned completely while other species are okay.. MY suggestion is you look up th laws in YOUR state first they may be banned completely, then YOUR county finally city ordinances that way you cant go wrong

Contact your state's Fish and Wildlife Commission. Talk to one of the officers about obtaining a hot license and they will tell you the nuts and bolts of what has to be done (every state is different and fish & wildlife is usually the one to issue licenses). If you don't have appropriate licensing, they will be the ones on your doorstep to confiscate your reptiles, so go to the guys that know the ropes.
Good luck!

I owned venomous when I lived in Ohio and did not need a liscense. I live in Wisconsin now and I heard that a liscense is required here but my info didn't come from a very reliable source. My guess is it just depends on where you live.

In the UK yes you do.
You would need to have an escape proof enclosure suited to the species you wanted to keep.Someone from the council would inspect it.You would also need a nearby qualified vet.
You would never be able to take it out anywhere so if you were hoping you'd be able to show it off to people you won't.
