One of them has small circular dents all over his body and head. I have always done a 30% water change biweekly and tested the ph and ammonia...added my aquarium salt. Whats going on? They are in a 55 gallon tank alone with a great filter and air bubbles. They are eating...but starting to not be very active.

Have you ever noticed that when you have a cheap fish and an expensive fish in the same tank, the cheap one is always the one the eats the other fish? That is damn frustrating.

I have a 44 gallons tank with a few kois and 3 comet goldfish. One of the goldfish is really big (my brother raised it). I don't know if it's a male or a female. Anyway, recently I notice the other fish (koi and goldfish) started chasing this goldfish and bite it in the butt. Is this mating or should I be worried about something else? How can I tell? Thanks.

well i have put my female yellow gourami and my male blue gourami into a 5gallon tank to breed. i have provided hiding places and floating plants for the bubble nest. the pair have been in the tank for a few days now and there is no sign of a bubble nest. the male is constantly chasing the female and has wounded her and nipped her finns and she rests in the bottom corner of the tank but she doesnt seem stressed at all! i was wondering if this was normal behavier and how long should it be before they spawn a nest?
i just cant find my answer on the internet and i have looked! :P

I'm wanting to set up a big african cichlid aquarium, and i've found some basic information but i'd like to get some other opinions such as:

Substrate?
pH levels?
Filtration?
Live Plants or Fake?
Aeration?
Temperature?
Overcrowding?
Does it matter which Rift Lake their species originate from?
Is it necessary to harden the water, and if so what is the best method of doing so?
Should i introduce all the fish at once or in small groups?
Cycle with Fish, Ammonia, or Bio Spira?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

I was wondering if anyone has actually witnessed their platy or swordtail have a fry. I have a pregnant swordtail and I'm so anxious to see the babies. My platy had a fry about a month ago but of course I missed that (she had them in the middle of the night while I was sleeping.). Anyway, I was just curious because I thought it would be a cool experience.

I recently lost all of the fish in my pond because I added too much water that hadn't had the chlorine removed, but they had been fine for years before that. I read somewhere that if you let the water sit for a day before adding fish and that will remove the chlorine but I want to make sure before I add fish again.

It seems every betta fish I've ever had has always been a pig when it comes to eating. I don't feed them every day, normally every other day, and when I do, it's only a few (2-3) pellets, I don't over-feed them. But they always act like they're starving.

Is that normal or do I just have weird bettas?
