Most pictus cats I've seen always swim side to side or up and down the side of the tank. I wouldn't worry about it.

Just a question. . . why did you buy fish from Walmart when you were already at the pet store and they knew what they were talking about?
And you bought water? Are you going to buy all the water you need to change the water every week?

Yes you did something bad, you took up a bunch of the salesperson's time, making him get you a bunch of RO water or whatever and then bought fish elsewhere. Stores don't even make any money off RO water, they keep it as a convenience to their loyal customers. If they were closing and didn't have pictus cats, you should have asked them to get you some and then bought it when they arrived. By the way, pictus cats are always on the move, especially during feeding time. Take a sample of your water to the fish store to have it tested, and do that once a week. Get to know the manager, and you will have much better results. Remember that you get what you pay for.

I recently added a Pictus cat to my 38gal planted community tank (tetras, gouramis, botias, and ottocinclus) and at first he wandered all over the tank "restlessly" and after about 48hrs he finally chose a spot that he decided he liked best and he really hasn't budged from that particular area since (about 3 weeks now) except at feeding time when he scours the bottom of the tank for sinking flakes and goodies. Neat fish though. I would give him some time to find his sweet spot in your tank before worrying too much and you may see how immobile he can be at times. Others who have kept this fish have said the same thing about theirs.

May I recommend a good water dechlorinator/conditioner? "Stress Coat" along with some beneficial bacteria like "Cycle" should be all you need to get your tap water to be prime for your fish though any brand should do as long as it's purpose is the same. I wouldn't spend your money on pre-treated water as it really isn't necessary. Just read the directions on the bottles of water conditioners and you'll be fine.

Hope this helps.

The pictus are active swimmers to begin with and secondly just getting to know their tank a bit.

Water treated water? Ummm... I hope you meant water treatment and not actually buying water for a fish tank. If you are, you are mostly likely wasting your money. Just buy a decent dechlorinator and use tap water. That's all that most fish need.

No pictus yet you have got a observed Dora catfish in that length tank no problem . in basic terms thinking whether it must be a cat fish might you think approximately a bristle nostril pleco optimistically it truly is going to stay out of how of your algae eater . i think of a bristle nostril would be an incredible pleco to function on your already surprising tank .

Pictus tend to be very active,I have 3 of them and they love to swim up and down and play tag with each other.Provided you floated their bag to get them used to the new tank there is nothing to worry about.
