Im moving into a dorm and I needed a small aquarium. The one i have has a bio-wheel (no idea what it means) and has a three stage filtration. Ive read some questions and it seems most people would recommend one betta fish for such an aquarium. On the box it shows tiny fish (probably 1/3 of an inch, i think they are tetras?) and theres like 20 of them in the aquarium! im not looking to flood it with that many, but what type of fish would you recommend to put in? I want at least 4 fishes, but i dont want a fish that would overpopulate my aquarium. Im looking for generally small fishes that wouldnt be stressed out in a 2 gallon aquarium.

I am getting fish in July, and I don't know how many fish I could get in there, and don't know what species to get either. I would like maybe two fish that are either beginner or intermediate level. I would also like that they were each a different species of fish, so I would like two small fish each a different species that would do well in a 1.5 or 2 gallon tank. Oh, and I'm sorry to be so picky, but they can't be tropical fish. In the space that I have, I don't have enough room for a water heater. Please, can you give me all the information that you have? Thanks.

So, I just got two goldfish today and completely changed the water in the fish tank, and I just found out that you're not supposed to completely change the water. The water I also put was from the tap, and did not sit out. What do I do so that the fish don't die? And what kind of water am I supposed to change the fish water with, also do I change half of it?

It is a golden barb, and after examining it, it seems to have pinky coloured scales on its gills, on both sides, and they look sore and inflamed, almost as if they are starting to peel off. Help!

I have a betta that has whitish scales that have developed near it's gills, my mom says "it keeps opening and closing it's mouth, and it looks like it has white stuff on the inside of it's mouth." I think she is imagining it, so she can treat them for cotton mouth, but that medicine is not working. She will get pop eye on the occasion. I have tried Maracyn II and my mom has increased the amount salt. I am more concerned about the discoloration of the scales near the gills. I really want to know what this could be and how to treat it. Any ideas???

What would you do if you were given a large aquarium? How would you set up the display? Substrate? Plants? Rocks? Driftwood? Fish? None of the above? All of the above? Assume a 6' long aquarium and feel free to answer with multiple suggestions being as specific or general as you would like. Thanks.

I have a small tank & add the start zyme & the amonia eliminator as recomended by the fish shop but had a number of fish die. I have now cleaned the tank & filled it with boiled water. I am worried that my fish may die again after 3 weeks.
I was changing the water regularly 1 per week & used the sand pump to pick up the dirt. Only changed max 75% of the water as advised. Can anyone suggest a good guide for setting up a tank with pictures of the variety of fish I can start with.
