The smallest tank I would put 5 neons is a 5 gallon tank, maybe 3, but no less. Can you give more details or description of the filter? If you believe it is too strong, you can use a "baffel" to divert and slow the water flow. Here is a link to make a baffel

There are also ways to attach these baffels to different types of filters, email me if you need any help!

Nope no longer even great adequate for the betta on my own. Bettas choose 5+ gallon tanks with a filter out and heater and Neon tetras choose a 20+ gallon tank, they're additionally tender to water high quality and could death very rapidly in a three.5 gallon. you may desire to get a minimum of a 20 gallon tank for the inventory you have.

Your 1.7 gal tank will work for a little while. I would recommend getting a bigger tank. If you are only going to keep a few community fish i would say that a 10 gal would be big enough. Usually you should go by 1inch of fish per gallon of water. Make sure you have a good heater and filtration system.

if the filter you're using is the one that came with the kit, than it'll be okay. just watch the neons, if they look at if they're struggling to swim because of the force of the filter, i'd get a smaller one. however, they don't need heated water like the person above me said. they need water to be mid-70s which is almost always room temperature. i have 5 tanks - none heated. they should however have FRESHWATER AQUARIUM salt (not table salt or saltwater salt) sold at petsmart (and probably almost any other pet store) - it will help with stress and illness. because neons are schooling fish and so small, the tank is an okay size, but you shouldn't add any other fish

i would agree 5 neons is extreme, i would go with 2 max or get a 10g tank, alot of places have a full set up under $30-40 and you could add more fish.

wayy to small for 5 neons. fish need room to swim, and that just isn't enough room for any fish. if possible, you could bump the size up to a 2.5gallon and get a betta. very beautiful, lively fish. make sure you have a filter, and heater.

Generally, you will need 1 gal per 1 inch of fish. So in my opinion, no.

Neons will live with mollies and guppies happily. Your tank is too small.
