I know this sounds like an odd question but I would still like to know the answer. I have a mickey mouse platy & a dwarf orange platy. The orange platy has orange waste and the mickey mouse platy has black waste. Why is this?

It really has much to do with the food they are eating. Possibly your orange platy prefers certain flakes while the Mickey Mouse prefers different flakes.

I agree with MM here. Fish waste color is dependant upon the type of foods they eat as well as the various minerals their body uses.
