will they be parasitic

No, bamboo is not a parasitic organism, but you really shouldn't put bamboo in a fish tank. Bamboo is not an aquatic plant, it is a bog or marsh plant and will die eventually if kept in a tank. While it grows well at the edges of water, or with the tops sticking out, it's not a good choice for in a tank. Also, the rough edges and leaves on the plant can scrape the fish as they swim around the bamboo.

Ditto with Magicman - my friend put bamboo plants in the tank, and the fish cut themselves on the leaves. Eventually, the bamboo will die and rot in the tank, adding even more problems.

Yes you can put bamboo in a goldfish bowl. They are not parasitic.

I keep my bamboo in my outside ponds all summer and bring them in in the winter, in jars of water. Japanese bamboo is actually a water plant and grows wells in swams and marshes. We have Americian varieties here that will grow anywhere...including my back yard.

go for it if you like the look.
