I set it up with the filter that came with it and 1 week later, it is very cloudy. It does sit in an area where some sun comes in. I try to cover the windows in the hottest part of the day. I tried using tank buddies tablets for algae. So far no good. Could it be the PH???? Help??

I want a 10-20 gallon tank for my living room but my dad hurt his back and no one else would be strong enough to move it. Is there a cheap way to keep it in that room and still change the water? Thanks in advance

I have 3 Sunburst Platies. One has a black tail and fins. That one tends to constantly bother the other two, so I'm assuming he's the male. Am I right?

Well my tank is getting hotter and hotter...its really not to bad at this point but Im not sure how to keep it ok without having to get a $100.00 chiller....I have tried the baggies with the ice but my fish just bite holes in the bags.. so that is pointless if i want to keep my fish healthy... any ideas?? right now i have put a fan next to it and opened the lids and it doesnt seem to be cooling off at all...I have a really bad feeling that I am gonna lose a whole tank of fish, AGAIN!! Grrrrrrrrrr.

I want one but I don't really like the small tanks they come in, they seem cruel even if it is just a fish, I just want one, and I think it would be good for my mom, it would give her something to care of while am at college even if it is a fish.

What do you know about beta fish?

I have 2 swords in my tank with a few guppies... within the last few weeks I have noticed that my female sword is prego but the strange thing is I have noticed that my guppies wont leave her alone whenever they are near eachother they are chasing her and seem to be nipping at her although I havent noticed any fin damage yet.. so my real question is should I be concerned of this behavior I have had fish of these breeds together in the past and had breeding but never this behavior I am worried about the added stress on her any opinions??

I have a male and a female silver molly and more recently, I have introduced two male guppies. They don't bother my platies and danios, but they won't seem to leave the mollies alone. Is this dangerous for the mollies and what can I do to stop them? Thanks for any advice.

Hi! I was checking my bettas tank today and he had bubble nests all around but his tank was really dirty. and I don't have a female betta anyways so I decided to clean it out. But now I kind of wished I didn't clean it out because I was thinking of getting two females and breeding them. How often do they make bubble nests? Thanks!

I have plants in my fish tank with long stems (2 inches) and two tiny leaves at the top. There are only five so far, but I think there will be more. I have no idea how they got there- I don't remember feeding my fish/snails anything besides fish food and bits of cooked peas and rice.

Also, I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but my snails have been really sluggish over the last two days. I suspect that one of them is dead. Could this result from consumption of the new plants?

Earlier today I posted a question about some fishy questions I had. One of the answers prompted me to take a trip to Petsmart on my break (don't go telling me how bad Petsmart is and how I need to go to a good fish dealer. I'm working on it. ;-)~ Any help is appreciated). Anyways, I went there to check out the availability of getting used gravel from their tanks, and they are going to help me out with that.

I just want to know what I should put that gravel into. Their gravel is brown and mine is blue, so I don't want to just dump it into my tank, cause I don't want to have to pick it all out later. I was thinking about cutting the foot part off of a pair of nylon hose and putting the gravel in there and putting it in my tank (after washing the hose in water...or even tank water during a water change). Are the tiny holes in the hose big enough for bacteria to move in and out through, or is there a better idea out there somewhere. Thanks for putting up with me and my silly questions

I recently purchased 2 4" siamese algea eaters. It seems like they are some of the better choices as an algea eater for what they eat and compatability with the others in my tank. My question is there is not a whole lot of algea in my tank at the moment except for some green (sometimes redish) algea on the glass. I do not know if they will eat that but will they eat the algea wafers and sinking wafers I put on the bottom for some of my other fish? Also should I eventually get more of them or will they be ok with just the 2 of them?

Thank you.

Oh almost forgot... I read somewhere that they will tend to stand on their tails when resting but these so far have not after 2 days of having them. I bought them from a very good specialty fish store who said they were not flying foxes or other similar fish that are easily confused. They have the black like down that body that tapers down to the end of the tail. Do adults tend to just lay on the bottom instead of their tails?

I've had my apple snail Escargo (his name) for about 4 mos. now.

Escargo has grown about half an inch in size and I've been trying to find some better resources on the net/amazon for more information about the history/lifestyle of these guys.

My tank is 2gallons right now and I'm considering the possibility of getting a larger tank for him soon if he grows larger.

Any advice/tips for extra care?

I love this little guy, and I want to see him do exceptionally well.

In short:

What is the history of the apple snail?
How large can/do they get?
Any apple snail books that you would recommend?
Any general advice/tips on care?
When should I consider getting a larger tank?

- As always your responses are appreciated!

I currently have a 2-gallon aquarium with a whisper flter, light, plants, and stones) on my desk at work. I currently have my 1" fancy tail goldfish in there, but learned he needs more room so I'm putting him in a bigger aquarium at home.

I'd like to keep the 2-gallon tank going at work. Would this be good for a betta? If not a betta, what other fish/non-furry creature can I put in this tank and how many?

Thanks in advance!

I have a male and a female betta in a huge tank (30 gallons). It was the only one I had and I figured that they wouldn't mind a little extra breathing space. But can they be together, even if the tank is so big?

Have a Biorb 4 gallon under air rock filtered tank with my betta in it. It's been running for a while but did a complete water change 6 days ago. Read in some answers that I should change water whenever ammonia or nitrite level goes above .25 when cycling a tank. What do you recommend? If I should change water, how much and should I vacuum?
