is there any thing you cant feed bettas or anything you can feed them other then betta food

I have this huge tank that is 36" long, 12.25" wide and 16.75" high. My quesion is how many gallon tank is this. Is there a quick way to find out. I'm thinking its a 25 to 30 gal tank but dont know for sure.

My guppy is pregnant. I know they give birth to a LOT of fry. What do i do with the ones I don't want? I can't spend money for any more tanks and stuff. The petco wont take them! What do i do?

I have a friends who had two male Bettas but rarely changed their water, or did anything for them, plus she had them in very tiny "betta boxes" that were almost too small for them to move in! One day, i told her she needed to do something or find a home for them, and she got upset and said if anything was to be done for them, i needed to take them. Well, i decided to take them. I already have one male betta and he has a beautiful 1 gallon bowl (which i still think is too small, but i don't have the money to get anything bigger for him right now) and i had to go out and buy two half gallon bowls for the two new Bettas. Is it okay to keep them in a tank that small? (which is still way bigger than the one my friend had them in) They seem to be doing fine, but i'm concerned. I test their water daily, paying close attention to ammonia because our tap water already has a lot in it, and i change their water as needed, but if i keep updated on the water, will i still have to get a bigger tank?

I just purchased 3 beautiful Koi. They are very young, only about 2.5 inches long. I brought them home and introduced them to their new environment. But there is a problem. It's been 4 days now, and they just won’t come to the surface to eat their food. I'm feeding them Hikari Staple mini pellets. These pellets float, and I couldn't find any pellets that sink. The Koi only stay on the bottom. I'm worried they'll just starve to death. What should I do?

i just got this betta fish about two months ago and its keeps on getting a lot of bubbles grouped together on the top of the bowl. i though they would just go away, but the next dasy they were still there!! i though that i needed just to clean the fish bowl, so i did. then they just came back the next day! i am getting really worried that something might be wrong with my fish. i also got these drops for the water, its got better, but i could still see lots of bubbles. so can you help me out?

i bought an upside down catfish at my local petstore the otehr day and he died almost as soon as i put him in my tank (within 10 minutes)the petstore has a guarentee so i took him back to get another one and they said they will not give me another one untill my water is PERFECT. They said it was my fault the fish dies even though i have many more that are doing fine, They will not give it to me even when i spend countless dollars on gas money to drive there and back. Everytime i bring them a sample of my water, they come up with something new that is wrong with it and i treat it everytime. WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!?!

I just cleaned by 2 betta fish's bowls, and when I moved my male crowntail from his bowl to a small cup to clean his tank, i noticed in the small cup that his left gill was sticking out....at first i just thought he was mad, but after I finished cleaning his bowl and put him back in, it stayed sticking out, and it seems he is gulping an unsusal amount of air from the top. I pick him up with a small fish net, do you think that could have hurt him
I feel bad because i think i hurt him
please help

My snowflake eel, now about 18 inches long and about an inch in diameter, escaped his tank about a week and a half ago. We found him on the floor, he was still alive so we placed him back in his tank. He kind of freaked out for awhile, and then calmed down. He stayed on the bottom of the tank for about 4 days, and then moved into his usual spot, curled up inside the hollow part of an aquarium ornament. He's been poking his head out, but we can't get him to eat his usual food. Its been a week and a half so we're quite worried. Any suggestions?

I just purchased a couple of African Cichlids for my 28 gallon tank. I was told that I can get up to 12 of them in there. Basically I need help on how to properly care for them.
That includes feeding them, keeping the tank clean, breeding information, I used to have goldfish and they used to eat their newborns, and I want to be able to get them to grow at least to 4-6 inches and keep them for many years. Also, does anyone recommend any African Cichlids that are nice to have? I currently have a yellow one and a black one with 6 light gray stripes. And finally, does anyone know how I can tell the difference between a male and a female african cichlid.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

okay, got 10 u.s gal.tank,one zebra danio, a red-tailed shark, and 2 phantoms,the phantoms are male and female, female seems a bit large-bellied,put male and female into breeder tank,since male is almost completely black, and they are most times side-by side, and right now are brushing their tails together in a slapping type of motion, could they be breeding?, or is female laying eggs?..need to know so I can keep an eye on the eggs and possible fry

my betta fishy is really bad! i had like 7 baby guppies and now there are only like 4. i think he ate them! and he is chasing the newborn guppies. did he do it? how do i stop him i still want to keep him! please help!!!!

i have many anchor worms in my tank. i used medicine, it worked, but the big anchor worms still won't go. u think i can use a pair of twezers or use finger to take it out of the fish? i have a large mollie, a medium platy, and a neon that has big anchor fish on gills. i have more, but they are all gone on them.

and, if i do anything to the tank that includes me touching the water in the tank, will i be affected?

Okay I think the Pleco in our 10 gallon has ick, and I don't have a cure(s) for it BUT, should I put it in a warm water tank to try and save it so the ick won't kill it? I don't want to see the poor Pleco pass away?!?! :(

I just got 4 small neon tetra fish and I was just wondering what other fish I can put in? I got a male beta fish too at the pet store and they said it would be ok.. but beta's are vicious and the people at the pet store didnt seem to know what they were talking about. I have a heater and filter too. Please help :)
