Ah this has happened to me oh so many times...I've found that a number of things can dirty your water in a day...here's a few of the common ones:
over feeding
over populated tank
sunlight exposure
weak filter
Also, I've had tons of snails over the years, and I haven't found ONE to be of any help at all...I'm not sure why they're needed because all mine have ever done is make things messier.

I can't imagine how your tank could get full algae in 24hrs. Even with the light on the whole time it would take longer then that. Snails are messy little things. What size is the tank, how many fish are in it, is there a running filter, is there a deep enough layer of gravel on the bottom, are you overfeeding. To many questions to give an educated answer. Is the tank in direct sun? Look up on the net, or get a good book.

A few Reasons already Mentioned:
-Light on to long
-Too much feeding
-Temp incorrect
+ PHOSPHATES are to high
One additional (which could be a cause from the above) is your Phosphates are to high. Phosphates could me in the food you are feeding and most likely the water you are using for the water changes.
My tank was doing the same thing, until I put a Phosphate sponge in the tank to remove the Phosphate. Algae thrives on Phosphates.
Now I rarely have to clean my tanks (about every other week, instead of every day).
Good Luck

You are fedding them way too much. You should only feed your fish once a day ofr once every two days. I had that problem when I fed them once a day and then I switched to feeding them once every two days and everything is alot cleaner and even the fish look healthier.
Good Luck!

are you thoroughly cleaning your filter? Is the temperature correct? And finally, have you overloaded your tank with plants? Light and plants create algae.
