betta fish will attack and fish with long flowing tails that look like them. Guppies and betta should never be kept together because betta think they are other betta.

If they were newborn babies though chances are the mom and dad ate them

The betta is just being a fish. (He is a carnivore after all.) I suspect that the adult guppies are eating the fry (babies) as well. (They are omnivores by nature.) Remember if it fits in the mouth they will eat it. What you need is a breeder box, or another tank for the little ones.

The betta will survive in a vase as long as you change the water often, and keep him in the 75-85F range. Just be aware that "jared" betta tend to get "depressed" and stop eating.

PS- Male bettas are fine in a community tank (larger than 5 gallons) with other peaceful fish. Some people find male bettas mistake fancy male guppy for other male betta. I really wouldn't worry if your betta has been living with male fancy male guppy.

Well I think it was the guppies because betta dont actually 'eat' fish they just bully and pick on other fish that look like them and have big fins.
You should never put a Guppie or Angelfish with a Betta or else something will happe when you least expect it to happen.

A betta will eat its own babies so you should never put it in with another fish to keep him and the guppies buy an extra Betta tank and keep him in separate.

Probably. Most large fish will eat the babies unless they are separated or have dense plants in the top of the tank to hide in. Even then its natural. He's not Bad...he's eating what moves..... just like in nature.
Next time put him in a separate bowl along with other bigger fish until the guppies are bigger and can fend for themselves.

Betta's, especially males, generally are not good "community" fish. They will eat pretty much any fish smaller than they are and may attack fish of the same size or slightly larger. I would recommend that you get a smaller fish bowl or a partition in your tank to keep him separated from the other fish.
Good luck!

Betta's are fighting fish adn they will attach and eat the fish so i think the best route is to seperate the betta from the gupies

He's not bad, he's just doig what fish do, they eat smaller fish if they can catch them. No adult fish of any kind should be in the tank with baby guppies, that's the first rule for keeping babies alive. If you want to keep the babies, you willhave to move either him or them.

Let me tell you, your betta is probably not the only one who is eating the babies. Mom is probably eating them too.

The only way to keep the babies 100% safe is to put them in a net to protect them.
