you can. For crappie, you can almost always tell when the crappie are feeding. The water will be "bubblie" looking on the surface and moving around. A bobber set about 4 feet from the hook with a minnow works best. If you are jigging, from a boat, you don't want to use a bobber.

Bass there are many ways to fish for bass. A bobber works, with a live minnow not far from shore or around docks or sunken trees and stumps, but a worm or tube slowly pulled or jerked thru the water off the bottom near shore works the best.

Carp, I have always had better luck with a worm slowly pulled across the bottom however bobbers with worms, dough ball etc. also work well. Carp will hang Especially in eary summer in the shallows where there is grass cover or just outside the grass cover. However carp can be found in any part of a lake. More on the bottom than with a bobber unless you are using a bottom bobber. Don't be fooled, carp will also eat minnows. Carp really aren't Dock sitters, but can most definately be found there on the bottom with the catfih.

You can find carp quickly by watching them spy hop. They will shoot out of the water to take a look around. Carp are also found near dams and out flows of dams.

Get a casting net catch some shad in it and hook one right above the black spot, let swim without weight or bobber around the dock at night under the lights. Hang on a big bass is on its way!! Try it its so much fun! Don't forget to throw the bass back to grow bigger and be caught again!

I would use a bobber for crappie fishing. I do not use one for bass fishing. Carp hang out on bottom and are plant eaters and I would not use a bobber for them either since some of them are really big.
