i clean my fish tank out really good, but the next day it turns a yellowish brown color! i have 2 decorations, a silk plant and a plasticy barell thing. when i wash the bowl I take the gravel out and put it in a bowl of close to boiling water and let it sit untill it cools down a little then i do the same thing with the toys (w/e there called). so it looks really nice when it's all done....after that i feed the fish a pinch of the food stuff and then in the morning it's that nasty gross color!! idk what 2 do!! it's really gross and i think it's making my goldiey sick! uhhmm it's a 2 gallon tank and i clean it once a week, i have a filter in the tank, and it's not in the sun.......my sister and i got fish from the same place and she had 3 fish and i had 2! 2 of hers died (her tank was doing the same thing) and 1 of mine just passed a week ago! so yeah i don't know waht to do! i think its the fish but idk what to do if it is?? k well thanks for the help!

thanks soooooo much!! ♥

I know you can keep a gold fish, and beta fish in a fish bowl and it will survive in the bowl. But what other fish can survive in just a fish bowl without an airpump and heater, and everything you need for a big aquirium.

I am taking care of my husband's fish, um we should change our water more often, but don't. . . don't scold me, just we never changed the water. Well today I was cleaning all day in the kitchen, where the oscar is (didn't use anything with fumes that could contaminate the water) I noticed he was white as a ghost. not knowing anything about fish, I tested the PH because I know that is something, when I did, it was 6. So I freaked out and changed more of the water than I should have (after reading) I did the water conditioner. Didn't replace the filter (almost did) Got ph to be closer to 7. Now I read and found that I shouldn't change anything too dramatically. oops. Is the fish going to die? should I do anythign else?

I know I already asked this question but nobody gave me a good answer. Exactly, how big does a Blue Tang from Fiji get. Please only answer this question if you are really sure of what you're talking about.

Would it be safe to put my 11-day-old five-millimeter-long fry with my betta in my ten gallon nursery?
My betta had finrot so after my weeklong ordeal with him and his meds I finally got it under control and fixed. So i've had him in a little bowl all this time and so this same day I take my fry out to clean the gravel of their tank and i do a 50-60% water change. After I did the change I was thinking that maybe this was too much and that now my nitrogen and ammonia might need to do a quick cycle again so I stick my betta in there (I read somewhere something about the cycle going faster if fish are present) but now im wondering if I can put my fry in there and leave the betta there too instead of in the 25gl community tank which I think is too big for him.
Is this a good idea or should I just put him back in the community?
Ps: The largest part of the fry, their heads, at the moment are JUST small enough to still fit in his mouth. Oh and dont bash me on the betta in the tank. Hes fine.

Someone said it'll cover my tank in more snails - are they a-sexual? I got the last plant a little over a week ago and I only see one snail, how does the breeding work? Time wise and such.

Okay so I got this tank about 3 weeks ago, and since then I have purchased a few different live plants from the petstore - I'm guessing it was in one of those. I noticed the other day that there was an odd looking black/brown thing on the bottom & I totally forgot to check what it was (I got distracted), when I remembered - it was gone. I just saw it now & it is in fact a snail - very small one. About 1 cm? It's obviously lived this long without me knowing anything but do you have ANY information AT ALL about this? Food it eats, anything at all.

Trying to think of an interesting tank mate for my tiger barb and tinfoil barbs....
I want a bottom dweller or other unique addition that will be compatable.

As an interesting note... one of my tinfoil barbs is a traitor and has joined the tiger barb school almost exclusively.

I have a 2.5 gallon tank with one male betta. Though there is no need, I use the tank's filter. The problem is no matter what I do, a few days after cleaning the tank algae starts to form on the walls. The water is clean and has been tested. No problems found. I considered cory fish but realize they live on the bottom of the tank. They won't clean the walls.

Any suggestions? I'm frustrated that this keeps happening.

I have just added a chocolate chip starfish and the first thing he tries to do is climb out of the water. The water is fine and there are only 2 clownfish in there. I have had to poke him to get him to fall back in. Any suggestions?
