I have just added a chocolate chip starfish and the first thing he tries to do is climb out of the water. The water is fine and there are only 2 clownfish in there. I have had to poke him to get him to fall back in. Any suggestions?

Chances are, where it came from, it was fed at the water's surface. Pet store employees think it's cute for the starfish to take food from their hand. So it's probably looking for something to eat. Just feed it foods that will sink to the bottom (large enough so your clowns don't steal it all) or weight it foods with a piece of shell or rock and evenutally it will break this habit.

For eveyone else's info, chocolate chip stars are marine and can sometimes be found in tidepools, but need to stay in the water - these are aquatic organisms!

Be aware, these aren't reef safe, so it may find other things in your tank to it's liking - just look at any marine forum!

i guess you can try to leave enough room for it to chill outside the water but, try puting a cage-like-thing over your tank so it does like...crawl around the house or whatever.
