Fish - February 2007

I jus got a new 10 gal aquarium and i have two gold fish and one black moor.......I need to know what i need to do and what to buy for proper tank cleaning!!!

Please Help!!!!

Recently I purchased a new 10 gallon tank. I added my fish from my smaller tank and have plenty of room for new ones. I currently have one male guppy, two small tiger barbs, and two small corys. I would like to get another guppy, another barb(or two), and hopefully a pictus catfish (or two). any other suggestions?

(yes, if you remember, I'm the guy with the fish that died but then came back to life....update...he died again..for good.)

i have about maybe 7 orange common golfish and i have 1 brownish color one common as well, and last week the brown ones tail was looked like it was attacked, because like the skin was off, and i couldn't find him the last 2 days in the aquarium and just today i found him eaten by the other fishes, he was left all bones.

does this happen usually?

i have never kept fish before we had the water tested at newbank for about 13 weeks and was told water was fine but then 2 weeks ago we lost all the fish to white spot. We have tried to save them with ws3 whitespot terminator but we lost them . We have a tank which has a heater and was wondering what was best to do wiether to empty tank or to just add fish please could you help thankyou.

I had a regular black molly fish and today just added a "large" black molly but it's only like 1/2 in. better (if that)..
My first molly used to be so active and ever since the new one came along, all they are doing seems to look like mating???
I dont know what gender each were or how to tell if it is a female or male...
Any suggestions...

He's a very healthy guppy (maybe), but recently he has been floating vertically in the tank with his tail on the stones. He swims around fine, and he's eating, but when he stops moving, his head goes up and he "stands" vertically in the tank. I just got another guppy 2 days ago, and he does it too....is this just a guppy thing? Or is something wrong with the water, fish, etc?

10G tank, water cycled for 2 days.
Introduced two fancy guppies.
1 - 2 weeks later, introduced 6 platies.
1 platy was reserved in corner, developed mucousy white debris on fins and face.
Quarantined him.
All other fish (including guppies which were just fine before) gradually developed white "ick" spots within 3 days.

Can ick and the unknown illness of the first fish be my fault or is it likely the pet store's fault?

BTW, I added a few drops of ickCure to the tank now.

it has 8 neon tetras,two of the are like 1cm and the other 6 are 2cm
4 glowlite tetras 3 of them 2.5cm and 1 of them 3 cm
i have 4 guppies 2 of them are 1.5 cm and 2 of them 3 cm
and 2 zebra danios which are both 3 cm

i make sure everyone eats.
i have plants and some display corals which may provide hiding places for the smaller fish.
i feed them everyday.

please tell me if they will have any problems....so far...none.
please suggest any tips that will prevent problems from happening like being aggresive and chasing each other.
please tell me tips on how to take care of them and tell me what things i should do with the tank like adding more stones,corals,etc.

please provide me with all your knowledge and what you will do to keep this tank safe.

i have two balck tetras and they have both just been stuck in the same place all day. normally they swim around but since 9am this morning they have just been staying in the same place. they are alive cos they are swimming. one is at one end of the tank near the top of the water and the other is at the other end near the bottom of the tank. any ideas as to what is wrong with them?

I have 2 Silver Dollars in my aquarium, they are just a little larger than palm size. I find them quite strange as I've caught them hanging about upside down in the tank more than once. They don't appear sick and are very alert. Does anyone know why they do this?

I am rethinking what I am going to put in my 120 gallon. 1 went ahead and bought 1 gold dojo loach and 6 serpae tetras to start with. While at the store we saw a blue lobster for freshwater tanks. I don't know anything about them? My boyfriend really likes the idea but I need to know if it will work with what I might end up with in the tank.

Please help me with a couple of my other questions on setting up my tank. At the moments my thoughts have changed to:
6 serpae tetra
5 angels
3 dojo loaches (1 gold, 2 spotted)
4 pictus catfish
1 freshwater blue lobster ???? (depends on answers here)

I am looking for cichlids that may work with this setup: maybe Blue Ram?? I need something for him to like in the tank if the lobster is a big No-no. I asked about cichlids before.. would like a few more answers please.

my pet lobster is said to be able to live in non salt water enviroment by the seller. dont know if he's crapping. told me to feed it fish food. doesnt seem like eating. who knows what it likes to eat?

got the aquarium 2 days ago. everything seemed fine.this morning i got up and they wrer all swimming around the top of the tank.i am a first time fish keeper and would like some advice.also, the water seems to be getting cloudy.checked out the filter, it seems to be ok. 5 gallon tank

Hi
I have now introduced the female to the male simese fighter she has been with him over 24 hours he is still just playing tag with her and at times they are peaceful, now she has lost her colour and her stripes have appeared, is this because she is stressed or ready to mate? the temp is 82 and she is so fat with eggs, but he just won't do the nest building, there are plenty of plants for hiding, and the water level is reduced, please help!!!
